Morning Symptoms

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Nearly every morning when I get up, I feel dreadful. Usually wake up in a lather of sweat sweating continues for a good hour after I get up along with muscle pain. Muscles feel like they've seized up overnight also feel very light headed.  I'm sleeping very badly so dont know whether this is contributing to bad mornings. I do feel a little better after the first hour up but this "morning" syndrome seems to be getting worse.

Is this a symptom for anyone else ?

Debbie

Hi

Sorry you are feeling so bad.

I think you may be cutting quite fast.

I don't know much about this daily tapering, but valium is leaving your body daily, even small amounts.

Could you try holding and making cuts of no more than 10% max of the dose you are cutting from and hold until you feel ready to make another cut.

The morning anxiety is due to cortisol which is at its highest in the morning after a fast.

I find if I don't go to the toilet to urinate then it comes out as sweat.

Hope this helps

Take care x

Hi Journey,

Thank you for responding so quickly. Journey, I have been holding for a couple of weeks after contracting flu.

Was about to resume my taper (taking out 1 ml a night) but dont know if it's the right time with morning symptoms being so fierce.

May have to reconsider my taper, I think i am dropping by about 10% with daily cuts but not sure if all the daily cuts have suddenly caught up with me.

Thank you for the information re cortisol, I do vaguely remember reading that somewhere else.

I'll have a rethink about my taper today.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

I also had mostly morning symptoms and assumed it was tied to my cortisol cycle as Journey suggests. Magnesium really helps a lot of us with the muscle cramps. Antihisamines like benedry really helped me through the worst of the anxiety .... they are not physically  addicting.

Hi Deborah,

The morning symptoms you describe are so common to withdrawal.  Yes it is due to the high levels of cortisol in the am as well as low blood sugar.  These symptoms can go on for a while but do eventually fade away.  You might try to eat a little protein before you go to bed, such as some peanut butter or a slice of turkey. Also it was suggested to me by a member that has recovered to get up right away and just greet the day.  These things might help but really time is the best healer.

I would hold as long as it takes to stabilise.

The daily cuts may have caught up with you, but I don't know anything about daily cuts, as I am on a cut and hold taper.

I've met two today though.

As for cortisol, I read on here that strawberries have something in them that helps with cortisol production. Sorry I can't link cos I dont know where it is.

Hi Journey,

Thank you for the tip re strawberries. I googled cortisol and strawberries and yes they are helpful as well as quite a few other fruits so I'll add those to my diet...every little tip helps.

Take Care

Hi DFebbie,

I'm off out to buy some strawberries!

(I think I have always had a "morning syndrome", so cannot blame it entirely on Benzos).
