Hearing

My hearing is not as good as other people's; I think either the benzos or the withdrawal damaged it.

I often feel left out during conversation because I can't quite understand what people are saying to one another, or even directly to me. If there's any background noise, even if it's not loud, this problem is exacerbated.

Throughout the day, my ears seem to close up, the way they would if I were inside an ascending airplane. I hear everything as if through earplugs, but it's come to seem so normal that often, I barely notice. Then, all of a sudden, my ears will pop and sounds are so much clearer.

This happens EVERY SINGLE DAY! Anyone else experience something like this or know why it would happen?

Hi there..I have had ear problems that far exceed what I normally experience with Menieres Disease. (one of the reason I was put on Benzo's)  I had a piece of cotton stuffed in my left ear for six months due to  exaggerated and distorted hearing.  Plus they would pop, get totally plugged and hiss.  My left ear was the worst and if I laid down on my right ear I discovered I couldn't hear anything.  I also got that sensation that I was going up in an airplane and for me it was painful.

I think I was told these sensations happen due to teeth clenching and grinding which we tend to do during withdrawal.  I'm six months benzo free and it has gotten better.

queenscarlet88...I'm just about 5 months out and have had tinnitus since the beginning. It had seemed that the tinnitus was slowly improving until about 3 days ago when all of a sudden it accelerated to the level you are describing. It's really a huge problem.

You don't have a sig line, do you mind if I ask how far out you are.
