[we...] Posted April 18, 2012 Author Share Posted April 18, 2012 Yes, it is driven by greed. 100 percent of the panel members had financial ties to pharmaceutical companies who worked on the panels for schizophrenia, and mood disorders. An 81 percent of the members working on the anxiety disorders had financial ties to the pharmaceutical companies. On the other hand, the work panels for Substance-Related Disorders had only 16% of members with ties to pharmaceutical companies. In other words, the financial connections are especially strong in those diagnostic areas where drugs are the first line of treatment for mental disorders.
