Allergies during benzo W/D

Hi forum.....I'm not a person who posts much, but follow with great interest. Hit a bump in my wean off Ativan.....had gotten down to 1.8 mg (compounded) but it feels like it's just placebo. Add to the insomnia rip roaring spring allergies, neck pain and I'm exhausted and impossibly weepy. This will pass.. Talked to pharmacist about restoring 2 mg dose for a while longer. Anybody else out there finding allergies worse during this process and/or if allergies interfere with the healing process? Thanks and gratitude for any support and suggestions you can offer.  :-[

I know the pollen level has been very high lately where I live.  I am tapering from Klonopin, but I rinse out my nostrils nearly every day with Sinus Rinse (from NeilMed Pharmaceuticals) and I use allergy eye drops when necessary (Naphcon-A).  So far, that's all I've needed.

Oh, there are times that I've taken a Clarinex (5 mg.), but they have been few and far between.

Also, make sure you stay properly hydrated, since water is a good natural antihistamine.

Wishing you well ...

Sincerely,

fg

Thanks all.....been diligent with sinus rinses, Zyrtec, restarted flonase and staying inside with air conditioning as much as possible. It's times like these when knowing there are others rowing their own emotional boats in similar choppy waters which helps a lot.  :-[

Thanks for the kind words, bando.  I did try Flonase, but it seemed to burn my nostrils and didn't work well with me.  I have found that Astelin and Clarinex work well, though.

By the way, I have recently stopped Flovent (100 mcg.), which is an inhaled corticosteroid.  Since I started it a few months ago I have experienced weight loss, fatigue, muscle weakness, blurry vision, etc.  Long-term use of corticosteroids can cause that in some people.  Hopefully, I'll start gaining weight soon.

Sincerely,

fg
