[Ch...]
Hi Irene, This is a great site for advice and support. If you read around the forum, you'll probably see that most of us have a lot of withdrawal symptoms in common. And yes, they're not at all fun, but it helps to see that so many others are experiencing the same thing and many here have successfully tapered off and completely recovered. Keep posting. [li...]
hello irene my story is some what similar. had accident, put on opiates &benzos for 19 years.decided no more pills.did own taper, started 12/6/11 not knowing about benzo w/d,(clueless) came off opiates& cigs' ok,got whacked ,out severe symptoms from going from 30mg day to 5mg day of v's in 6 weeks. . BIG mistake don't want to do that.went to doc, up dose to 5mg 3x day. did 1- 10 percent taper 3 1/2 weeks ago. 10 percent to much for me. next one i'm going to try 5 per. .severe symptoms have waned but lots of side effects.doc's never told me either. not to happy about that. best thing that i found is look around site and read the positive and success stories first, then there is tons of other stuff on different taper amounts & how others have coped. hopefully you are more pc savy than me and can connect with others. i'll figure it out eventually. hang in there irene we are all on a life changing long journey lil' joe
[ir...]
Updating my situation - I am now on 2.5mg off diazepam a day, Taking as 3 half pills a day, now on my 2nd week off them, Ill take these for another week and they will get redused again. Ive had really bad withdrawal symptoms such as a feeling of unrealness like in a dream, that am not here really! I try ed to take on a new job but went in for one day & never went back as I couldn't cope, i couldn't function, when ppl were speaking i couldn't take in what they were saying, it was like I had cottonwool in my ears, I also panic to much. I am having really bad headaces, sore mouth/neck, really dry mouth, sleepless nights, weird dreams, sore tummy. feeling dizzy, feeling like the room is moving when your not! I just wish this feeling would go away & I can be me again as I have two kids & getting married next year.
[Ga...]
Hi Irene, Welcome. I'm new here myself, and have found this site and folks on it to be an invaluable support system. Positive people. Sounds like you're doing a reasonable taper and are having some pretty common withdrawal symptoms. I'm coming off of a rapid detox from a large daily dose of xanax. I can say that the first few weeks were nightmarish. I even saw demon heads floating over my bed for a couple nights. Demon heads! Wild stuff, this withdrawal business. Fortunately some symptoms faded at the three week mark; no more insomnia, my appetite is back, no more night sweats, and mercifully the demon heads are gone. I still have many others, the toughest being one you mentioned; derealization. Like you, I have trouble interacting with people, both listening and speaking can be a challenge. The thing to know is that all of these symptoms, no matter how bad, will eventually fade. The benzobuddy group is great at offering reassurance, knowledge and hope. Again, welcome aboard, you now have a team to help you fight the good fight. Take care Warren

Guest [...]
hey Irene good on you for doing this welcome to benzo buddies ask away any questions you like and someone will be sure to answer. Nobody would have taken this stuff if they new what it would do to them. They should be used for what they are meant for short term use for a disaster say a major train wreck or something and they should come with warnings. I knew it was addictive but when i took it i just didnt get it if that makes sense i felt addictive in the fact that you would crave it like cigarettes or something not that if you dont take it your body would go into shock etc. anyway best wishes in your journey Lizzy
