Off clonopin for 1 month

Hi.  My journey with benzos began over 4 years ago at a time of crisis and loss.  I believe now that I was in tolerance withdrawal for most of those years and, like many others, was prescribed more meds to treat the symptoms that no doc would identify as relating to benzos.

Last spring I started to figure it all out and started first by tapering the effexor that I was on.  After that I started on the Adivan taper (was then switched to clonopin to complete taper).  I have to go back and look how much I was on but I think it was around 2.5 mg. a day.  It was a brutal taper but I did it in 3 months.  Then I began tapering Lamictal and that's when my ns went haywire, had to go back on the clonopin, and wound up in a holistic detox facility for 7 weeks.  Did a lot of tapering while there (came down 50% of the lamictal, 50% of the prozac, all of the mirtazipine, and most of the clonopin).

I came home with the goal of finishing the clonopin taper and then eventually doing the rest of the lamictal and the prozac.  So I am one month off of the clonopin and still feeling terrible.  Intense anxiety, worry, obsessive thoughts, fear, tightness around the head, sensitivity to noise and quick movements, sleep disturbances.  I know this is all par for the course but I still get very scared and feel very alone.

It is good to be here.  I look forward to sharing and learning and healing together.

Karen
