I didn't have stomach trouble specifically when tapering but do from time to time.  I've tried drinking Kefir and either it helps over time or whatever it was would have settled down on it's own.  Took me about a week to see improvement.  If the severe pain continues, I'd see a doctor, preferably a gastroenterologist.  Not everything that happens while tapering is due to withdrawal (though most of it is.)

Hi Lori,

A lot of buddies have GI issues during withdrawal and recovery, it is very common.  As Beeper said, its best to get things checked out if there are severe symptoms and you are worried.  I did and everything was fine.

I really haven't has as many GI issues as some people have.  I had a lot more when I was on the benzos.  But I started to be very careful with my diet late in my taper.  I really cleaned it up and ate really healthy food with little sugar and no caffeine. I also eat a lot of yogurt and I thinked that it helped me.

The bloating thing is really awful, its the 5 month pregnant look and I am way too old to be pregnant. I have had this before as well.  There are a lot of Gaba receptors in the gut, thats why so many have issues there.

All of these things will resolve themselves with time.  Try to be careful with what you eat for a while, you will learn what is most bothering to you and you can stay away from it for the time being.

Is bloating a withdrawal symptom? I feel and look like I have a heavy balloon expanding in my stomach.  Feels like I ate a bucket of rocks haha.  Can't wait till someone asks me my due date.  :P
