Does EVERYONE go through withdrawal like us?

Does everyone always go through terrible withdrawals like us?  The reason I am asking is because of my mom....she has been on 30mg oxazepam to sleep for 10 yrs and in the last 2 yrs the doctor doubled the dose to 60mg a night.  Well my mom got a call from the pharmacist friday saying her pills were being discontinued and that the doctor didn't refill her rx.  She called her dr and he is gone until next tuesday.  She went last night without any and didn't sleep (obviously)...but I am so worried and I don't think there's anything I can even do....her pharmacy is closed until monday.  I am hanging on to the hope that she might just be fine taking some benadryl to sleep and bear some minor withdrawal.  :'(  I'm hoping someone has a story of someone they know that just quit benzos and never looked back or had any issues....

Not everyone goes through bad w/d.  My uncle was on the same amount of Alprazolam I was on, but he was on it for 5 years, cold turkyed, and only had some irritability.  He got back on it a few years later, quit again, and had only irritability issues.  Basically, he suffered no w/d.  The irritability only lasted a few short weeks.

I would call the pharmacy ASAP and tell them to give her an emergency extension so that she does not have a seizure. The pharmacist shoudl be aware taht this is  a benzo and the pharmacy should comply under the circumstances.  My daugher takes an anticonvulsant and once or twice we have needed an emergency extension when there was a clerical refill error or the fax didn't come from the doc's office in time.  They have always granted it.

She is also on oxycontin...I'm not sure if that will make things any easier until she can get something monday hopefully.

Oh boy ... this situation makes me real nervous.  Although some can get away with a cold turkey like this not everyone can.  Is there a walk-in clinic?  Otherwise she may have to go to ER right?  Oh boy.  I don't know whether the oxycontin will hold her or not.  Keep us posted.

Not to frighten you but my homeopathic doc's brother in law ran out of his benzo on a Friday. He was going to go to detox on the next Tuesday. He had a seizure on Saturday. He died. These are NOT drugs you can risk stopping cold turkey. She may need to go to a ER to get her meds until a pharmacy can fill her script. Please dont risk her having a seizure.

She's actually feeling okay right now...she said she wants to see if benadryl will help her sleep.  She should be able to go to the same day clinic here on monday to see whoever the doctor is that's on call to refill her until her doctor comes back.  I don't even know what to do...I don't wanna freak her out either....she doesn't know anything about the extent of withdrawal.  If she is feeling ok, maybe we should just wait and see a bit?
