Progressive Muscle Tension and Joints/Ligaments Cracking

Recommended Posts

I have been off klonopin for over seven weeks now after a long (11 month titration). During the last part of the taper, I some of my joints and ligaments started cracking and now almost all of them do. I attribute this to the progressive muscle tension and stress I have experienced during this span. It is my worst symptom by far and I'm trying to figure out how to get a handle on it. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, how has it gone?

Hi Kevin,

My muscle issues have really fluctuated a lot. When I first jumped off I felt so good and happy to be off benzos that I started back to a lot of physical activity and sports.  It felt so good for a while. About 1 month off all my muscles seized up.  Little did I know that it takes up to a month for valium to leave your system.  My muscles had realized they were no longer being relaxed chemically.  I felt better last August and slowly started bicycle riding.  It went well and I was biking up to 20 miles a day.  At the end of October I started having dizzy boaty feelings, muscle spasms and internal tremors. At that point I discontinued physical activity. Right now my lingering symptoms are physical in nature and are managable. I started biking again this week and plan to continue unless there is another wave of symptoms. I do believe it will take a while for the receptors to send the correct message to the muscles and allow them to stay in a more relaxed state.

I do stretches and apply heat to the muscles, it seems to help.
