I think I keep Hyperventilating!

Recommended Posts

Everytime I start talking on the phone or to people, I start to get out of breath, shaky, fingers start to shape, tingling all over my head, hard to breathe.  Somebody help me! is this normal for Benzo withdrawal? I never had this on Klonopin.

sounds a bit like a depersonalization symptom causing mild panic. Strong likelihood of benzo w/d especially after reading your fairly rapid discontinuation. A few months of w/d following this seems par for the course. Hang in there, you just need a little more healing time.

I can absolutely relate to you.  I have felt like that the past few days.  I sometimes stop myself from talking because of the d/p, it sound like someone else is talking, I hate it.  I have been pretty shaky and out of breath, along with dizzy and a little light headed, but it always passes.  I have been off for two months and 15 days, so right along with you.  It sucks but it always passes:)

Yea, it's a nightmare, and I can't seem to stop it.  I will talk and then its hard to breathe, then my face starts getting flushed, my fingers spasm and shake, Lungs are tight, hard to get words out, head pressure.

Three pieces of advice.

Do not reinstate

Remind yourself that it is temporary. I've been slammed with DP's also and it is scary.

You can't medicate w/d (SSRI's/SNRI's in particular will make it worse)

If you are a alcoholic, treat that.

Fabulous post.

Some of us treated our tolerance wd with booze. So it is great to remind people to seek help with their drinking if it had become a problem.

RFB

I confess to treating my w/d with and occasional malted beverage or 4, plus a couple of Winstons. It does hurt me in the long run.

Thsi is a pretty good description of DP. You feel like an actor, acuallt thinking " what would I normally be saying in a conversation such as this ". You look at people and they don't seem like they are not quite real. It reminds me of the occasional acid trip I took in the 80"s.

Dear slayer- That is exactly right, that is exactly my thought process sometimes, what would I used to say in a situation like this?  Your right, faces, place, they just don't look the same.

I might be violating some anti flirting policy, but speaking of faces, if thats your pic, you are not a bad looking woman. You look happy in that pic too.

Haha, I do not think there are any anti flirting policies.  Yes, that is me, I posted that because this is the last time I remember feeling happy, it was college graduation, one of my most proud moments, besides having my little girl:)  I look at it to remind myself of who I really am, and try to get back to her.

BMW- It does not sound like hyperventilating, I mean it might make you feel panicky and you start to breath harder, but true hyperventilating, you would feel like you can't catch your breath...I duno maybe you are hahaha:)  Even if you are, just slow your breathing, (in for 3, out for 4).  Do that for a minute you will calm down, just remind yourself its the w/d...stupid drug.
