Does anyone have thinga in there past that were painful come back while in withdraw?

There was somewhat of a tramatic insident while meditating when I was 18,  I went too deep into meditation and scared the hell out of myself.  This was the first time I experienced dp/dr

AND this was the reason I was put on benzos AND the reason I started drinking heavily

Anyways that feel is back and im scared,  feels like I just hit a wall.

Need support and hope

VERY common - I have read many members talk about this and it is very upsetting for them.  I have only personally experienced it a handful of times since being off of Benzos, but for some people it can really be hard for a bit as they feel they can't let go of these past feelings.  I know, like everything else, it does go away eventually.  If you ever have a chance to read up on "Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome", this is one of the big things that is discussed and it can be very difficult for people.  But it WILL go away.  People often find it goes, only to return for a bit...then it goes away completely eventually.

I hope that helps.  Just keep going - you're doing great and our body just does some strange stuff to "heal" from these meds.

All my best,

Schatje

I have this all the time, but mine is of the events following my c/t which were beyond horrifying.  I find that it's improving though, but very slowly.  I remember way before I ever took a benzo, I got DR from thinking to hard about a theory of gravity I was working on. It last around a month, and was really weird.

I've never had DR other than this experience, unless you count daydreaming, which to me is VERY much like the DR I have.  When I daydream, I'm kinda in this suspended state until something calls my attention back to present consciousness.  That's the state I'm in all the time right now - and it's nothing I've ever experienced before this experience off of benzos. It is the MOST TROUBLING symptom I have and I will almost consider myself healed when it's gone - no really.

Metheral-

I started having painful flash backs the first week of w/d, and they keep popping up here and there.  To me I learn very powerful lessons from this flashbacks.  I see the situation for what it really is, and gain a brand new perspective on myself.  I would look at it as a positive, and maybe a sign that we haven't yet dealt with our pain, which is what was causing our anxiety in the first place and made us take this awful drug.  So now that we have made the decision to get off, now its time to face our past:)

Parker-

I know exactly how you feel.  The first month or so sometimes I would just stare off for 30 minutes at a time and then I would get scared and get up and walk around because I felt paralyzed.  This has pretty completely disappeared for me though, so just like with all of the other symptoms it will pass:)

Yes I do, and this has been going on for a while now. I agree with Smuel, don't fight it, just take it for what it is.

Billy.
