Try to sunbathe a little each day

This is the first thread I've started in awhile.  In the past few days, it's been sunny enough to sit out there for just a few minutes. I think it's helping me feel a bit better in the afternoons if I do that in the morning. I read on a website that all the average person needs is about 10 minutes in the sun in a tank top and shorts to make about 10,000 IU of Vitamin D.  (Compare that to the supplement I take that is only 1000 IU and that's 2 pills a day!)

Vitamin D probably isn't going to make GABA upregulate any faster. But it helps me feel better - a lot better. Could be random coincidence, but it's free and easy to do - and it won't hurt you.

I even read on a success story that a buddy posted that sunbathing reduced nerve pain. I don't have nerve pain, but it's helping my mood.

I live in Florida - so I'm only out there like 15 minutes. That's all it seems to take.

Hi Parker,

I agree, sun exposure helps.  I too am in Florida and we're having glorious weather right now.  I have been potting plants out on my lanai off and on today and I don't notice my symptoms so much when I'm out there.  Its a great mood elevator as well.

Thanks for the reminder!

There's actually speculation that sunshine does a lot more for us than just help us make vitamin D.  That our skin actually uses the sun's energy to do other chemical reactions besides just that one, affecting our hormones, and cholesterol metabolism, and some other stuff.  I know sunshine always makes me feel better, although when I lived in New Mexico it was just too much.

Anyway right now it's cloudy but next sunny day I'll get at least a few minutes outside, thanks for the reminder!

It's spring here but still a little chilly for a sun bath, but I've managed a few minutes here and there. Yes it does help. I can't wait to go for walks in the nice warm sunshine,,,,,, before the mosquitoes and gnats are out.

My D levels stay low despite supplementing and sun. My system is all messed up.
