[ka...]
Last Friday I had an appointment with my doctor to start my benzo recovery. She told me to take the mexazoalm (it's like ativan) in the following way: 1mg and 0.5mg in alternating days for a week, and then just 0.5mg every day. She also told me to increase my dose of escitalopram (lexapro) from 5mg to 10mg. When I started taking the meds again, I started exactly by taking 10mg of escitalopram. The thing is that some symptoms started to come up and persisted for more than a month, like tiredness and headaches; so I reduced the dose to 5mg which worked fine in alleviating the majority of the symptoms I felt. I told this situation to my doctor, but she kind of ignored me, saying that the minimum dose necessary to produce some effect is 10mg. She also told me, in addition, that the 10mg dose of that AD would help on masking the symptoms that the reduction of the benzo dosage will cause. Since Friday, when I started taking the 10mg, I started to feel the symptoms that I felt before (they are awful, especially in the morning). I would like to know your personal opinion if I should keep with this dose or go back to the 5mg. Thank you.
[Be...]
Since it's totally your choice whether or not to take the lexapro, it's your choice how much to take. Maybe it isn't helping you at all at 5mg but makes you ill at 10mg in which case I don't think I'd take it. Check with your doctor first, before stopping it though. You might want to start a thread on the Other Medications board and ask specifically if others have found that lexapro (escitalopram) helped with their withdrawal symptoms. I don't think it does for most people but that's just my impression from reading a variety of posts over the years.
