How do we know when symptoms are permanent or will go away forever?

I know we are all different and I know we all heal differently. I have read up a lot on my symptoms and would like to hear from you. How do we know when physical symptoms are temporary and others will stay with us? Bliss Jones still gets involuntary toe twitches, etc. I look at my toes and even when they are in a shoe, I can feel them moving around. Has my body broken a barrier where there is no way that my toes will ever return to not twitching? I just want to feel comfortable in my body like it was before I took this miserable Lorazepam pills and want to know when I wake-up I am not moving, shaking and scared.

Please email me your physical symptoms that have come and permanently - muscle twitches, involuntary arm, leg and toes movements, twitches in your stomach, internal buzzing throughout your body. I would greatly appreciate it - I am feeling really low, today, and as a 44 year old, feeling that how I felt before I took the pills will never return and i will be permanently stuck like this.

Hi Brooke,

If you do not have a neurological disorder of your body's nervous system, and your symptoms are caused by the lorazepam, I should imagine that you would heal 100%, and not have any permanent damage.

You took Lorazepam for a very short time.  It seems like your body was extremely sensitive to the chemical formulation of the Lorazepam, and you got hit really hard.

Benzos have a way of making us think that everything is gloom, and doom, and we will never be the way we were.  I had about half the withdrawal symptons that are listed in the Ashton Manual, and I am totally healed now.

To ease your mind, perhaps you should see a Neurologist.

Good luck to you, and try not to worry.

Thank you for emailing me. I did see a neurologist and she said it was anxiety and out the door she went. Did you have any of the symptoms I listed in the email and if so, are they gone?

Yes, I had a lot of twitching. My left eyelid would twitch, my toes would twitch, and I also had weird twitches in my stomache, that really freaked me out.

They are all gone now.  All my symptoms are gone now, and for that I will be eternally greatful.  Try to relax, and not worry so much. You will be ok :)

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of psychological symptoms did you have, PJ?

I was strong minded, organized, happy, not a huge worrier and slept pretty well at night. I use to be a worrier over 10 years ago, but retrained not to do so. My mother choose to end her life by not eating and it took 9 weeks. She had Parkinison's, but choose not to do any of the medication for it. She missed my father who had died 10 years earlier and gave up. I, in turn, became the strong one and lived life with going in full force. It has been a rough ten years.

Hi WTBNA,

I experienced Derealization, Benzo Rage, Social Anxiety, and  terrible thoughts of death.  The fear of death was the most disturbing, and lasted the longest, about two months.

The other mental symptoms were not too severe, and only lasted about six weeks. It took fifteen months for the physical symptoms to totally disappear.

I have read some of your posts, and I realize you are having a real tough time.  I sincerely hope that you will soon be healed.

the best to you
