[sc...]
Its been tough going but in the past couple months the length and quality of my sleep has declined significantly. I feel like I really need more sleep to maintain the strength to get to my recovery. Anyone have any sleep suggestions? I've tried melatonin but it hasen't done much. Tylenol PM? Benadryll? Thanks, Scott.
[Im...]
Hey Scott. I personally use an antihistamine (similar to benadryl) every night - I've talked to my doctor and they seem to think it's a fine choice, as long as it doesn't make you too groggy the next day. They're nonaddictive, have short half lives, and are just generally pretty benign drugs, as far as I know (with the standard disclaimer that every body is different). The only risk is that you train your body to need them to sleep - but even then, it's not an addiction in the sense of benzos or z drugs, where you have other physical symptoms - it just might be hard for you to sleep again after you stop taking them. But if you're not sleeping well now, then it seems like it's probably worth the risk. Good luck whatever you decide, and hopping you get some , because I know how going without them can feel! [sh...]
The Insomnia board should have some great info on the subject. Also, you can do a quick forum search to find how others are dealing.
[ha...]
Hi Scotth, I made a list of non-med sleep ideas: http://www.benzobuddies.org/forum/index.php?topic=43567.0 When I read the list now, it seems like so many, too many things, but it is all from benzobuddies. I find that the light issue is a big one for me - computer lights, keeping lights down. I hope there is something that will help. I know some people also try meds., but I decided to stick to non-meds. Hope something works for you!!!!!
