[NI...]
Does anyone get numbness in their feet and legs? That seems to be the first thing that happens to me as I taper and I end up taking a pill and it goes away. Is it normal? It's really scary. I don't want to go backwards, but the numbness causes extreme anxiety and panic. If anyone has experienced this, how long does it last? Should I stick with my taper schedule and just let it happen? I'm new to all this.
[so...]
I have thus exact Problem on a fairly consistent basis. At first I thought it was caused by sOme kind Of food allergy but after months of food journal entries I finally realized that it was part of this wretched process. Is it not amazing how much damage this little white pill can do in such a short amount of time.
[pa...]
I had that mostly around my toes and I felt that I was walking on some kind of padding. That lasted about a year but in the last 3 months has completely gone away. Hope your feet feel better soon. Paresthesia
[su...]
I have it too, as well as tingling and it really scared me. Also, sometimes my hands and feet are very cold and turn red on soles and palms. The last visit to a doc I mentioned it and he attributed it to the Imipramine I have been on for 16 years. I'd kept a journal since Ocober 2010 trying to figure out what was happening to me...was also having other symptoms. Only reviewing them over and over did I finally see Ativan tolerance, dependance, then interdose withdrawal. I scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist (new to me, we had moved to another state) and he said nonsense, can't be withdrawal, although he also contradicted himself when he said anyone on Ativan the way I had been taking it was in a constant state of withdrawal. He told me to stop it cold turkey. I did, and I'm now 1 month off. I mostly feel it in the bottoms of my feet and some over my shin areas. Interestingly enough, I am on Progesterone and Be-estrogen transdermal bioidentical hormones. I now recognize that when I apply the Progesterone, it relieves the tingling and numbness.....it's a benzo agonist. I haven't been to a neurologist but have read the Ashton literature and see this is a withdrawal symptom. I'm an R.N. and feel like a total idiot for not recognizing this sooner, although 3 docs all missed it. I still, at times, struggle with accepting this wondering if there is some underlying horrible disease that is causing all of these symptoms. Then I read the Ashton lit again, read posts, and look back at my journal and see that when I dosed the Ativan, guess what? The symptoms resolved. Bingo. And I'm madder than a hatter over this. It's really changed my whole life. Used to work full time plus take on-call. Couldn't do that today anymore than I could fly to the moon. Husband had a day off today and I went out with him to a few shops. Literally had to hand on to his arm because I felt like I was sort of on a rocking boat, and the bottoms of my feet felt so weird. You aren't alone in this. I'm sorry for your situation....hugs.
[Ho...]
Hi NICUNURSE, Yes this is very normal. Whenever I make a cut at least one of my feet goes numb for a few days. When I was taking bigger cuts, it was much worse. Hope
