[pa...]
Has anyone used alpha lipoid acid for nerve pain? Any effects? Paresthesia
[Be...]
I developed diabetic neuropathy in my fingers and toes several years ago and started taking 400mg/day ALA. Within months the pain was virtually gone and even though I am down to 200mg/day now, I seldom have any of that nerve pain. As far as I can tell, it is totally self if purchased from a reputable source.
[pa...]
Thank you Beeper - I am not diabetic, but have read that it helps with neuropathic pain which is my major and lasting symptom after 2 years of tolerance/withdrawal and off. I think I'll give it a try. Paresthesia

[mr...]
I've had my mom on ALA for the past 2.5 months, along with iron supplements for IDA (Iron Deficiency Anemia) and electro-acupuncture and nearly all the pain, burning and throbbing are gone. She still gets some tingling or stinging periodically, but nothing like the first 2 months benzo free. The bottoms of her feet are still as numb as they were one month before benzo free, but her nerve conductance test showed meylin sheath damage on a nerve in both legs. I have no idea if it is the iron, acupuncture or ALA that caused the improvement, but the iron seemed to have the greatest impact and was started first.
