[ge...]
I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place, but if not, maybe someone can redirect me. I've been off klonopin for over 10 weeks. I'm generally doing well. I had a couple rough weeks (weeks 7-9), but that seems to be subsiding. I really believe that my slow taper made the difference. Anyway, while I'm continuing to heal, I've been trying to think of ways to make a difference to people in my community that might be going through a similar experience. As you all know, there is very little support out there. Has anyone found a way to help others through this benzo crisis in your local area? Thank you! [Fl...]
I've been wondering the same thing. More so to meet up with others that are going through this. There are meetings for alcoholics and others with drug addiction's of all sorts but nothing thus far for benzos that I have found. If you find anything let me know. fb

[pa...]
As a spouse supporting her husband through this, and I went through it years ago not knowing... My mission are two... speaking to everyone and all, explaining these drugs, providing them the link to benzo.org to read the Ashton manual, as well as viewing as a guest the BenzoBuddie site.. I tell them, you need to educate yourself about these drugs. This is for yourself, your family and your friends. I've had many email me or call me after they have read the Ashton Manual appalled, and telling me they have family on these benzos. So, education with gentleness through the word of mouth out of concern...its a great way to help. Pattylu
[pu...]
Hi, I was able to find this one in-person support group http://www.benzo.org.uk/otbh.htm Called Oldham Tranx (short for tranquilizers) It seems to be in the UK. But, anyway there's one group at least........ one group is more than none, and shows it can be done. Feel free to use this in any way you can that inspires you or encourages you. The group has been in existance for 22 years. Oh, actually I think that was as of 2011! So I guess now it is 24 years.
[Ol...]
Hi, Quite by chance I was roaming around on Craigslist. Found the Forums section, so checked out the Recovery topic. I was able to suggest the BB website to someone who said they were struggling with getting off benzos. OlPal
[...]
I write on drs suggestion sheets to inform themselves and develop an out reach program for their patients... I think one problem this community has is getting out... its almost impossible for me although I do... i would never get myself into a room full of other agoraphobics... its enough I have to deal w/ myself. Can you imagine... every five minutes somebody starts freaking out because they have to leave to get back home. Well, that's me. I very rarely drive myself anywhere... to the dr because everyone around me works... no public transport. I was talking to someone else on another thread who wrote a letter to a newspaper columnist and is working on her own material... I'm not sure what... my plan has been very selfish... I thought I'd wait till I'm completely off so they can't cut me off. I do tell people... anyone who will listen... of course, I have to be careful, both the insinuation and it plays into my own existing drug induced OCD tendencies. Once I started looking, I found a lot of information. Like a number of other things, I think it has to happen to you before you really understand the experience and so many people come off these drugs w/ no problems that no one feels it is an issue that if it does not directly relate to them... they have so many others that seem more important... after all... we will get better in time. I expect to write to elected state and fed officials regarding the prescribing of these drugs. I've come to the conclusion that unless you have a seizure disorder, they should not be prescribed... the benefits do not outweigh the risks. If the experience, itself, hasn't taught me that, reading other people's experiences w/ this class of drugs has been particularly informative.
