Hi All

I'm 7 weeks benzo free today and the last few days have been really tough. I feel so spaced out, distant and trippy (my Derealization getting worse I guess?), my head hurts, I have an inner vibration/trembling feeling, my tinnitus screams in my head and to top it off I am exhausted tired, just walking up a stairs feels like I am after doing a hard days work, my legs are like jelly and hurt they just feel so weak and heavy. I was doing great there for awhile but this seems to have sneaked/crept up on me..

Any words of encouragement or tips on how to handle this onslaught??? I feel like crap, would it stop if I took a dose of valium? even though to be honest I dont want to!

how long will this last, really thought I was over the worst of it!

Hi TukTuk,

You are so early off- right now you are in acute withdrawal.  I did the same thing that you did, I posted here about 11 weeks off wondering what was going on with me.  I was told the same thing I told you.

I personally would stay far away from the valium, you've worked so hard to get to this point.  It will take time for your cns to heal.

The best thing you can do now is to accept that you need to go through this process.  Then try to find things to distract yourself.  I watched so many movies during acute withdrawal.  They were light easy going comedies and I really don't remember some of them.  Just the distraction was good.  Unlike others I was able to read so I read a ton of books, all light reading.  I also rested a lot.  Your body is working so hard to heal, and it will, but don't push yourself.  Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and eat a clean diet.

You will heal, everyone will.  I feel like a different person than I was last summer.  Yes I still have withdrawal symptoms but life is much much better thse days.

As you might have heard, healing is not linear.  No one can predict the length of time it will take.  You will start to have windows and then possibly waves as different parts of the cns heals.

Hang in there, you can do it.

Thanks for that pianogirl!

Its like i know all the symptoms, read all the books, but then when you get hit, I think "oh no this is different this is much worse, there is something else, badder happening to me" even though I know its withdrawls. And just to have someone post to reassure you or remind you, makes me feel a lot better (well not better but more determined to get through it) Dont even know why I put down would a valium help, I have no intention ever of taking another benzo, but god only knows what I was thinking when I wrote it, my head is all over the place (I feel electrical or something lol  :idiot: its horrible)

Anyway thanks

Please dont take a valium!! Hang in there and let your brain/body/mind heal. You are VERY early in the healing game.

You are doing great even though you feel awful.

I know its hard. Hang in there though. A rescue dose could set you back.

Keep venting here if you need to, or PM someone.

We've got your back.

Im 14 weeks off Temazepam and used to get tired like you it does get much better i feel okay most days.  I take Q10 capsules they made me feel better almost immediately they suit me and dont bring on any withdrawal symptons.
