Hello, My story is quite the story let me start by saying it's wonderful to  have a support group  like this.

I was prescribed ativan/zoloft combo on top of my adderall xr 910 mg twice a day) June, 2011. I had light halluinations immediately, didn't think anything of it. a month past & I felt emotionally numb zombie like & tired I called my dr & explained to the receptionist I want to quit the zoloft for the affects were horrid. I quit cold turkey off zoloft for 3 days & felt great. the receptionist calls me & tells me Dr. wants you to continue switch from taking zoloft in daytime to night time. took that into consideration & continued the following day with zoloft. I continued to take my ativan 0.5 mg up to 3-4 x a day. I continued this for 3 months dr. kept handing me prescriptions like candy & didn't say anything about withdrawal. in august I attended a wedding & got a little intoxicated, went to the hotel after tried to sleep couldn't sleep the whole night I ended up having a hallucination & felt like my heart ripped out of my chest, (from the hallucination) I immediately felt weak the next day I fly back home quit my zoloft/ ativan cold turkey.. MAJOR NO,NO! I've had four seizures since, cold/flu like symptoms, tinnitus auditory hallucinations, heart palpations, high blood pressure. the list goes on! I though family was against me & plotting against me. I ran away for two days. came to my senses went to the ER aprox. twelve times in four months & each time they sent me to the psych unit told me it's mental health problem. I was prescribed several antipsychotics & was told I was mdp..mind you, I've never been psychotic in my life!! :o Im currently on seroquel 50 mg @ night & though I've gotten a lot better. It's now been 7 months im still suffering from being weak, tinnitus & light auditory hallucinations (whispers can't make of what's being said)  every Dr. I've been to want to precribe me medication's. Hows this poison still out there!?! it's been a total nightmare.  :-[

Sorry that you've had such a hard time.  It's been my experience that most doctors are not aware of benzo withdrawal.  As you can see from my signature, I took a benzo for 6 years and didn't know I was even addicted to it until I tried to stop, found this forum and now tapering.  I've read many times where folks are been told they are 'this' are 'that' because of how doctors see them when they are in withdrawal (even if they know they are in withdrawal and trying to get help) and don't know what is going on.  Hopefully you will begin to feel much better soon!

Best Wishes to you
