Can withdrawal start less than two weeks off of Lorazepam cold turkey?

I took Lorazepam from Nov. 12-Dec 14, 2012 - 1 mg a night and went cold turkey not knowing that I had to taper. December 26 woke up to an electrical current going through my head, sweats, shaking, etc. and started with the insomnia. I have had a long, ugly list of symptoms that i never experienced before in my life and not prior to taking the med.

In the past couple of weeks, I have been woken up by my right side shaking and tremoring. Does anyone else have this experience? It is so scary to wake-up to this and on top of it having just to deal day to day with being in the withdrawal. I lay on my right side now so I hopefully don't get jerked away with the shaking and tremoring. Please help and advise. I am new to this and just signed up today on this website. I was tested for Parkinison's by two neurologists with their physcial exams and I don't have it. Could withdrawal start less than two weeks into cold turkey?

Yes absolutely! I'm sure you're dealing with a withdrawal issue. You had short term use so I would suggest hanging on and toughing it out. Please don't try other meds if you can avoid it. You will get better. This is very common, you'll be OK. Withdrawal can start within days or months, I'm sure that's what you have. This will improve. Try your best  not to obsess and not to see too many doctors who will try to downplay it. Read some posts, also read Dr Breggin's site and if need be look for a benzo wise doctor. I'm sure it's the drugs!

So sorry.

Time will heal you.

You had a short stint on the drugs, I don't think so. I know you stopped abruptly but the dose wasn't too too high. I'm sure you're going to be ok.

Try to stay calm stay away from any meds or supplements and just let your body heal on its own, it will right itself. Try not to read too much or obsess too much (i know thats tough to do), but know its the drugs and not you, not permanent. Hang in there.
