[ja...]
Ok i need advice. Im really nervous about this next c/o cut My first c/o cut was 0.375 mg xanax adding 2.5 mg valium week 2 was .25 mg xanax adding 5 mg valium Tuesday will be week3 .25 mg xanax adding 5 mg valium in the morning the first 2 weeks were night doses. Im so scared this cut will be to big. please advice
Guest [de...]
You refer to your first c/o being 2.5V for .375X. I imagine this is a typo. Did you mean 7.5V? Any way, if your first 2 c/o went OK that proves that valium is covering the loss of X. In my K to V c/o, now 2/3 of the way through, I am finding less w/d each sub. My best advice...don't be scared, because that is not doing you any good.
[ja...]
Thankyou Deerslayer for your responds. No typo. I just started myc/o journey Tuesday February 28th. My friend Laura helped me with the c/o schedule. Because i was nervous to take out .25 mg xanax the first week we decided to just take out 1/4 of my xanax making my dose 0.375 mg and adding 2.5 valium. The 2nd week that is this week im taking .25 mg xanax and 5 mg valium these are night doses. Next tuesday i will be taking .25 mg xanax and adding 5 mg valium to my morning dose. Before the c/o started i was takeing 0.5 mg xanax 4 tmes a day for 15 years steady. Im just worried that the .25 mg xanax will be a big cut even adding the 5 mg valium im hoping it will cover the w/d. The reason i switching to valium is because im in bad I/w and i have no other options. I know worry doesnt help. This c/o schedule is in keeping with ashtons. It will take 9 weeks to finish c/o. I hope this makes sence because im feeling a bit down to fear and just hope if anyone else cut .25 off could share there experiance Thankyou
Guest [de...]
It sounds like you have been adding V a few days ahead of an X cut. This makes sense pharmacologically given the markedly different half lives. There is no reason not to have confidence in your plan, which is obviously well thought out. That does not mean that will won't feel some minor short lived w/d, but it is highly unlikely that you will get slammed. My crossovers from K to V have been simultaneous. Each time I have been hit with only a tiny bit of withdrawal (although some sleepless nights). Stabilization has occured within 3 days of each. 4 down 2 to go. Think about how good it will feel to get that horrible X out of your system in return for the much more benign, manageable and titratable V. Don't fret if you experience some insomnia. It will likely be short lived. Might want to stock up on some benadryl just in case.
[ja...]
Ok Deerslayer, im going to be brave and cut the .25 on tuesday as planned you are so right, im ready to get rid of xanax. I just hope the added 5 mg v kicks in fast. Thankyou for your help. Did you cut a lot while c/o?
Guest [de...]
I am still confused about what you are referring to as a "cut". I substituted proportional amounts of V for K. I did not cut along the way. By reading your time line, you seen to be trading X for V at a 20:1 ratio. this is a substitution, not a cut.
[ja...]
Im so sorry you are right. Cut isnt the word Sustitution is correct. I am following ashton. sorry for the confusion. This is all new to me
Guest [de...]
That's OK. As I said before, proceed with your plan because it seems like a winner. If you have some symptoms, they will probably mild and short lived like they have been for me with each portion of my substitution. Remember that all benzo's are non selective with regards to the GABA receptor. They only differ in half life, speed of crossing the blood brain barrier, and binding avidity. All of these variables are accounted for by the factoring in equivalency as you have done, and the extra days that it takes for the v and its metabolites to build ( which is why a few days of minor w/d are possible). Good luck

Guest [de...]
Ok Deerslayer, im going to be brave and cut the .25 on tuesday as planned you are so right, im ready to get rid of xanax. I just hope the added 5 mg v kicks in fast. Thankyou for your help. Did you cut a lot while c/o? Forgot to actually answer this. I am substituting 2.5 V for .125K, I have completed 4 of the 6 substitutions. The first two I did at four day intervals, but the 3rd hit me with some pretty solid insomnia for 2 nights, so I am slowing the subs to every 6 or 7 days. I was nervous about this process, but I can see now that it actually works. Looking forward to getting this filthy K out of my system. Ofcourse there is still the matter of 15 or 16 V, but I am confident that this will be much easier to taper. Another nice thing about the valium slow half life is you can probably reduce dosing frequency to twice a day. I wouldn't mess with that now if I were you. Something to consider after you are crossed over and feeling good.
[ja...]
I am thinking it will be easier to taper the valium too. Your lucky to have only 15 mg valiumto taper. so what happend when you were sustituting just over 4 days ? Were your sx bad? And you said 6 or 7 days are better? So you must be feeling better now. Im happy for you. Do you know yet how much % you will taper? You sound like you got it together. How encourageing to me
Guest [de...]
Jackie Mostly just a little muscle tightness and tachycardia. I could basically ignore it. The 2 near sleepless nights sucked though. I am sleeping better by spacing the subs to 6 days. Let me give you a piece of advice...Relax. You are obviously very anxious about your crossover. You will be fine. As I said before, you have a good plan and you should approach it with confidence. Don't "what if" youself. DS
[ja...]
Ok what is tachycardia? and your right, im anxous about the c/o, thank goodness im going to a therapist wednesday to help me with this. My brain lies to me all the time.
Guest [de...]
Don't listen to that lying brain of yours.Learn to think in terms of probabilities, rather than possibilities. For example, is it possible that I will get slammed with my next substitution? Yes it is possible. Is it probable? No, it is extremely unlikely. The math has been worked out and the substitution protocol has been clinically validated ( by Dr. Ashton ) and anecdotally ( by the hundres of successful posters on this board. Can't go through life constantly bracing yourself for ultimate worst case scenarios. Well, actually you can go through life like that, but it is not a life worth living. This might be a more valuable subject to bring up with your therapist. Tachycardia= heart beating more quickly than normal.
[JO...]
Jackie, You are doing great in the cross. Please don't over think it . i know it's hard but you do have a plan in mind and are doing it. Just try and focus on how much better you will feel with all that nasty xanax out of your system. You're getting there just take it one step at a time. Sometimes what if's make this so much harder than it really has to be. i hope you will gain more confidence as you go. Listen to deerslayer's great advise.
