Nortriptyline

I have been prescribed Trepiline so was interested in your post and did a bit of comparative research.  From what I read it is very similar as is Amitriptyline.  I am attaching a link for you.  I only take Trepiline as needed but I do know some who take it every night and have found it very helpful.  The s/e include dry mouth, hang over, and weight gain.  I can live with those in exchange for sleep.

Thanks for the information. I have been interested in trying Nortripyline due to this statment "Nortriptyline may also have a sleep-improving effect due to its affinity for 5HT2A and histaminergic receptors." I have had luck with Remeron but I don't like how it makes me eat so much. I am hoping I don't have similar problems with this drug.

Anyone else?

Yes Buddy

I tried it, but that was before the benzo taper. It was so sedating, at a minute dose, that I couldn't take it. And the constipation was severe.  I have since wondered whether now it would be of use to me for the ongoing insomnia, but am now on zoloft so there is enough a-d in there.

And I found that adding in the a-d during the w/d was fabulous. Whilst it did make me sick for about 10 days, after that, some of my w/d symptoms diminished dramatically. It was just amazing.

And this means that after the benzo is gone, I will have the "protection" well on board for the medium to long term, against anxiety.

Cheers

Viking

I wish it was sedating for me. I may as well just drank a cup of water last night as opposed to this drug. I think I may have slept 2-3 hours all night. I did though feel like I had a hang over this morning. I only took 10mg and was wondering if I took 2 tabs instead if it would help.
