Glad I Found You

::) This is my new member posting.  I have been on Ativan for about 15 years.  At first, it was 0.5 mg and now it is 1.0.  I have never tried to stop taking it.  The few times I have forgotten to take it or not had access to it, I could not even close my eyes.  I do not want to up the dose, but my current dose is not working.  I originally began taking Ativan during marital problems and continued taking during a parent's serious illness.  Then, I didn't want to stop.  Not that I am adding other prescription drugs, I am beginning to worry.  So, beginning May 27, I am tapering off.  I appreciate this place to vent and be supported.  Hopefully, I will be an asset after I am whole and well.

Hello downtowntiger and welcome,

You are in just the right place to find support and encouragement as you taper from ativan.

Could you please add a signature line so we can see what dose you are on and what other medications as well?

Here is a link to the Ashton manual, you will find so much information there.

Do you have a doctor on board to help you with your taper?

Please feel free to ask questions.  We are glad you found us!!

Welcome Tiger,

We're glad you found BB, too.  You'll get lots of support here for your taper. Many of us are tapering, many have successfully finished their tapers and are benzo-free... :yippee:  Benzodiazepine dosages tend to creep up higher as time goes by and we also begin to experience withdrawal between doses...sounds like that might be what's going on with you.  That was my wake-up call as well.  We're here for you.
