[km...]
Hi everyone, Need some input I took amoxicillian for 7 days and each day my anxiety got worse until yesterday it got so bad I had to leave work. I didn't take anymore since yesterday morning and I'm still feeling some fierce anxiety. I thought this would be the safest antibiotic has anyone else had problems like this with amoxicillian?? I was getting to the point work wasn't as hard until this any help will be so appreciated. Hugs Kristin
[an...]
Yes I have had bad anxiety from amoxicillin oh yes! Even when I was on klonopin,I couldn,t take it. I never had problems with it when I was in my 20,s and early 30,s. Angel
[km...]
Angel thanks for responding I feel less crazy now. Everything I read people do fine on it so I was worried I was in a horrible wave. I'm doing a tad better today and your post makes me feel alot better!!! I think my system is way to sensitive to deal with any type of meds. Thank you thank you thank you!! [an...]
Oh ur so welcome kmarie! I can,t take anything at all when I get sick, and by the good grace of god,I haven,t been sick in about a year or more! I used to get sick a lot on the klonopin though. I sure hope these sensitivities go away one day,but I am gettin older so I kind of doubt it! Take care. [pi...]
Hi Kmarie, I had a rather bad ear infection and sinus infection in December . I took the zpack. After a couple of days I did have a pretty strong wave. I think it is because our cns is so sensitive right now that just about anything can upset the apple cart. It is a safe antibiotic because it is not a floroquinlone so the effect will wear off, mine did in several days. Take care and try to stay peaceful and calm. [Ju...]
Hello Marie! I took amoxicillin for strep throat, the third day of taking it I had suicidal thoughts and a lot of anxiety and insomnia. Many people have told me that amoxicillin is safe, but I think we are very sensitive. Take care and a hug!
[Da...]
You haven't had benzos in 3 months, right? I bet you will be fine. Your CNS may be sensitive, but infections can get out of control quickly, so it's better to be safe than sorry. All antibiotics can cause anxiety and heart palpitations. You just have to tell yourself, "It's not me, it's the med, and it's only temporary and I will be better". Good luck, keep us updated.
[km...]
Well it was a horrible weekend I thougth I was literally crazy!! Today I feel a little better at least I made it to work. I am hoping it's just the antibiotic that caused the severe breakdown since Thursday. I still feel a bit "off" but not as panicky so far this morning. Guest [Ka...]
I only got thru 24 hours of taking Amoxicillin before I started to feel very jittery, very unsettled, completely wound-up and had heart palpitations. Everyone said that it wouldn't react with being in w/d and that they were able to tolerate it fine. That out of all the antibiotics, it was the least likely to do so. I'm sure it could've been a lot worse with a different, more powerful antibiotic, but I know it definitely reacted with me. Once I stopped taking it, it stopped. [km...]
Kate, I started to feel funny the 2nd day but kept taking it and each day things got worse finally after 7 days I stopped taking it and now this is day 4 of not taking it and I still feel funny but not as severe as the past 3 days. Thanks for the input I was so afraid I was crazy because most can tolerate it but I guess I'm one of the few that can't. Hugs Kristin
[Ca...]
Do remember though that if you are given a course of Antibiotics, you should finish the course. I have lymphoedema in my left arm & if cellulitis occurs, I have to immediately start a 2 week course of Amoxycillin (I have a supply in case of emergencies). I have not had it since I started tapering though.
[km...]
There is no way I could have finished the dose or I would have ended up in the ER. My mental symptoms were thru the roof and I really thought I was going insane. Good luck! Hugs
[Ca...]
I guess in your case you did the right thing. Hope all goes well for you. Carlton
