[De...]
Hello Buddies, I am half way through my taper and was doing relatively ok. However I developoed flu nearly 2 weeks ago which appeared to exacerbate all withdrawal symptoms. I have held my taper since then but now I am experiencing severe muscle pain in most of my limbs, legs, ankles, hands wrists, neck etc which I am finding is much worse after physical exertion ( mowed the lawn yesterday and have been up all night in so much pain) I know the benzos are muscle relaxants and I know in withdrawal it is common for muscles to ache but to this extent ? I do have mild arthritis but it is usually very manageable so this is new to me. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this and if so did the symptoms improve as they continued their taper. The reason I am asking this is I am now very apprehensive about doing anything too physical because of the pain I am experiencing. I have been using biofreeze for the pain and taking the odd mild painkiller ((Paracetomol) Would really appreciate some advice with this. Thank you in anticipation. [Be...]
When I've cut too much I experience both muscle pain and fatigue. It is a very common symptom of withdrawal I'm told, as I've asked the same question.
[De...]
Benzo3 Thank you for that. You say you experience this when you've cut too much. I am tapering using titration reduce 1 ml a night so it is difficult for me to connect a cut to a symptom as I have been reducing a little every day. Anyway will carry on holding for the time being. Benzo3 Does your muscle pain ease when you hold ? Debbie
[La...]
Hi, i have been experiencing this also. I am titrating 1 ml a day, I am down to 2/3 my dose, and have developed very achy thigh muscles and my arthritis aches are magnified along with an old shoulder injury flaring up. I know its withdrawal and plan to keep moving these joints and tapering as I need to be off this drug All the best Ladygrace
[De...]
Hi Ladygrace, Thank you for your reply. Exasperating isn't it ! As I said in my post, I know the benzos are muscle relaxants but to experience muscle pain to this severity. Oh well, I'll carry on and try to work through it as I too need to be free from these drugs. Thank you again. Take Care Debbie PS Hope your sleep is still improving
[jo...]
Debbie At 7 months free the muscle pain, tightness and joint pain is still with me. At times it feels as if I have the flu. The only thing I have to help with the muscles is a mucle relaxer and that helps sometimes, sometimes not. I don't know if this is a good practice or not. Sometimes doing cardio and weights help. [De...]
Hello Jo, Thank you so much for the response and the advice. I have just had a look on google for herbal muscle relaxers and found a few suggestions so will try one of those if the pain becomes too debilitating. I like to be fairly active and find this pain is really restricting me. Congratulations on being benzo free Jo, I live for that day ! Wishing you many more happy & healthy healing days. [Be...]
Deborah, It's still early for me, but, yes, the muscle pain, fatigue and stiffness did resolve (within a couple of days) when I held for stabilization. I experienced the muscle issues twice, the first was in my 12.5% dry cut and the second was in my 1 ml reduction, which I think went on for about 13 days, so larger than a 12.5% decrease from previous dose. I have not had all those muscle issues since moving to the 10% method, but it's still early. I always seem to have a little muscle fatigue, but I attribute that to both the muscle relaxing effect of the medicine and the effects of withdrawal. [De...]
Hello Benzo3, Thank you for getting back to me again and for the information you provided. Interesting you experienced the pain for 13 days whist tapering 1 ml and now you appear to be ok with the 10% cut so far. I too permanently have the achey muscles but that's to be expected in withdrawal totally different from the pain I am currently experiencing which is more like nerve pain. Anyway I'll have a think about that before I resume my taper. Thank you again and good luck with the rest of your taper ! Take Care. [Be...]
Deborah, To clarify, it was the 1 ml reduction that went on for 13 days, not the pain. The pain showed up at around day 12 or 13 and that's one of the reasons, along with insomnia and anxiety that I stopped to stabilize.
