tapering off xanax

I am a 31 year old female and I have been on xanax for a good year now and before that was on klonopin on and off for a few months.  I came off the klonopin and did that cold turkey and had a few days of absolute hell! Now I have been on xanax for a year about 1 mg now down to .25 mg and eventually hope to be cold turkey by april.  I was wondering if anyone else notices physical effects from being on benzos? I notice my skin and my hair always seem to be dry regaurdless of what i do...my hair feels like straw and even grows in dry and damaged. My skin seems to have no pigment...very pale/grey and i am naturally dark skinned. I get really depressed looking in the mirror and it makes my anxiety even worse. Is anyone else goin thru this or is it just me!? >

You are not alone!  Many on these boards have dealt with the same things you are struggling with.  Go over to the withdrawal recovery and support board and look for the thread "I look Like Hell" and you will see that you are not alone.  Our physical appearance mirrors the turmoil our bodies are going through right now.  I too have the same hair and skin issues and more.  We will get through this and all things will be put right.  Hang in there.
