Hi BB,

I came to this board for some help adn a caring ear. I have been 9 weeks benzo free off of Temazepam 60 mg after seven years.

I did a C/T withdrawal not on purpose but because my pills got lost in the mail over the holidays. The symptoms have been enough to make me want to sign myself into the nut hut. Today I had two crying breakdowns and basically I am out of control. Please help me get through this, prayer just isn't enough.

Hi Redwritinghood, welcome to BenzoBuddies

I completely understand about the cold turkey, I did that too. Everything you describe sounds like common withdrawal symptoms. It might take a little time for these things to lift, so just know that you're not going crazy. You'll find a lot of support here, let us know if you have any questions.

Congratulations on being free

Hi Redwritinghood,

Welcome to Benzobuddies. Sorry you are suffering so much. Hopefully your symtoms will ease as time goes by but if not would you perhaps think about reinstating with the view of doing a slow taper would be more gentle on the CNS.

We are both at seven weeks without! I think I am slowly getting better. Yes I had the crying fits for quite a while but they seem  to be petering out, yours will too. You can count on us to support you!

Welcome to BenzoBuddies

I'm sorry you had to do a cold turkey, I did a very quick taper also, since my doctor did not want to cross me over to Valium. I have many crying days, with boyfriend used to say that he should have invested in the Kleenex company. I still cry once in a while, but it has definitely eased off.

I also felt intense mental symptoms, they are also easing.

Know that you will be getting better, it's just a matter of time.

Hi Redwritinghood (clever name!),

How are you doing?  I too did a c/t and am very familiar with wanting to head to the "nut hut".  I know now the only way out is through.  Hang in there, you can do this.  We are all here if you have any questions.

Has anyone refered you to the Ashton Manual online or to Bliss John's book Benzo Wise?  You can also learn a lot of information from those resources.  I am finding Benzo Wise to be very helpful in dealing with my unusual symptoms and in keeping a somewhat positive outlook.  It is less technical than the Ashton Manual and easier to read but has less info.  So each are good in their own right.

Also, if you go to the first page of my Intro and look at reply #20 you will see some info and links on reinstating.  I personally chose not to when I was at the same point as you but reading why may interest you.  You have come a long way.

Be easy on yourself, you ARE healing even when you feel like crap!

Sunny
