Hello, Im Sunbrnt.

 

Started taking benzos for sleep during an incredible sinus infection and ended up self medicating and became dependent.  Did crossover from 3 mg Xanax after trying dry taper..( 11/1/2011), to 50 mg of Vallium.........Am at 24 mg now (3/4/12) Dropping 2 mg every 10 days at the moment, and although it has not been a smooth sail, I feel so much better than I did.  Glad I found the Heather Ashton protocol, and found a detox center that provided it.  At first, I thought I was going to die, but now there seems to be a light at the tunnel.  Last week, I went two days with practically no withdrawals, and of course....when you make the drop, seems like the 3rd day is when symptoms are there worst, and then things start to get a bit better until the next drop.  So far, each drop has been a lil easier than at the beginning.  I have a team of pro's that are giving me support at this detox center, and assurance that I will feel better as time goes by........and  I allready do.  The worst part for me is the tinnitus, and the burning feet, but I am no longer restless, or shaking with tremors.  My Doctor put me on a fast pace taper, and I thought I was going to go out of my mind....Then i came to the computer and found this site because I was wondering what the heck was going on with me and this body.  If I had of known that Benzos would do this, I would have never put one in my mouth........

Your taper is truly amazing, you are just sailing through this. You are very fortunate to have a detox center who understands benzodiazepine withdrawal, and the support you're going to get from them is invaluable. One of the things that most of us lack of validation during the withdrawal process, and it looks like you are getting validation.
