[h2...]
I am not a native English speaker but I need a help. After suffering from withdrawal for 5 years( I C/T ), I am thinking of reinstating. My symtoms don't get better and I need do so many things, I need to work and get married(haven't met any girls for five years since I started having w/s) so I am thinking of taking them again(Prozac 20mg ,and valium5mg) If I take them again for about 5 years and do a very slow taper(like for two years) will I still have bad w/s?(like wavy floor , GI problem , sweaty, brain fog, visual snow, breathing problem, fatigue) and If I reinstate , will I feel OK like before I had w/s?? Thank you.
[Fl...]
Hello and welcome h20min! No, please don't reinstate after 5 years. What a waste that would be! And it might not even work. Plus something called the kindling effect could make future tapers worse than your first one, There are many things you can do to feel better other than benzos. I don't know your culture, so don't understand the urgency to get married, but I can tell it is very important to you. Let your future wife enjoy the real you, not a drugged you! Perhaps you can get some support on a protracted withdrawal thread in the support section. Good luck! Flip
[h2...]
Thank you for your reply. how was your tapering? did you still have those cramping, whole body involuntary shakes, nystagmus, vertigo symtoms during tapering? and how long did you taper? how did you feel after you done tapering? [Fl...]
No, the horrible cold turkey symptoms left immediately upon reinstating, but remember I was off benzos for less than 2 weeks. I have been tapering for over 14 months and still have about 4 to go. It has had it's ups and downs but has been manageable. I am in my late 50s, so I have healed slower than you younger people. I hope to have some quality of life when I'm through. Flip
[h2...]
Is there a difference between reinstating within a short period of time (two weeks like you) and reinstating after a long period of time of withdrawal like me?
[Fl...]
Anecdotally, yes. There seems to be roughly a 2 week window where reinstatement works for some.
[Ch...]
h2omin, I also have read that reinstatement after two weeks can lead to considerably harder withdrawal later and agree that you shouldn't reinstate. Are you under a doctor's care? What are you doing as far as diet and exercise? Challis
[pr...]
Is there a difference between reinstating within a short period of time (two weeks like you) and reinstating after a long period of time of withdrawal like me? A very big difference. Not even close to the same thing at all.
[ma...]
Hi, I hope this is not innapropriate, but how about trying flumazenil? Some of the studies on protracted wd are encouraging... M
