Symptoms always worse at end of period and following week. Anyone else?

I'm going crazy again! I have a few great weeks and then bam! my period comes and a few days into it its like I stopped taking my benzo. I'm sure its hormonal related. I guess its the progesterone dropping and not acting on the gaba receptors. I was even sleeping good. Now I can't sleep. Lay there and twitch. Get the shivers. Then I get all hot. It lasts for about 10 days then I feel normal again. I dont want to eat. I lose weight. Extreme fatigue. Racing heart. Panic attacks. I'm alone with 2 children. How can I keep on doing this every month. Will it ever get better? Will I still have theses awful spells even when I get off my benzo? I cant cut any slower now. I'm doing .25mg every 2 weeks. I'm at 4.25 mg. This has been happening consistently since I started my taper. I had insomnia and the twitching before the benzo and was on birth control. I stopped the pill at the beginning of my taper. Anyone else experience this? Anything help? I'm trying to be very responsible about my taper because of my children. This seems so unfair. Is my underlying problem just my hormones? I'm 37. What can I do to get through this horrible 10 day period? There has to be a solution. Anyone able to help? Anyone else have this problem?

I cannot help re: the periods. I hope someone comes along who can help.

I have had short cycles and irregular periods for years, pre benzo for a good few years.

I found out that this happens to me because I have always been nervy and this is my body's way of reacting to this long term nervousness.

 

I know you want to get off benzos, but you can cut a bit slower.

I was cutting 0.25mg every three weeks, and it got too much for me.

Can you try a 0.125 cut. Small cuts are recommended to stay functional.

Can you leave bigger gaps between cuts, as valium takes upto 3 weeks to leave the body.

I am now cutting 1.2mg and haven't determined the time for my next cut.

It's about 17days before i feel the effects of cuts.

I just started with the liquid this week. Do u notice any increase in your symptoms when you have your period? What's the longest you have held for? How functional are you? With most dose cuts I get a metallic taste, thirsty, trouble sleeping for a night or 2, irritable. I usually notice the cut a week later. If I hold for 3 weeks I usually feel really good. My second last cut was .5mg. Went ok-held for 3 weeks, felt awesome! Decided to only cut by .25mg this time. Got period same day and started the liquid for the first time. Got hit hard 4 days out. I'm trying to make sense of this all. I dose twice a day. Do you dose once or twice a day? Thanks for your help. I figure the best way to do this is to ask the people that have gone before you. You are really close to being off the Benzos. That is awesome. I hope you are feeling better as the dose gets lower.

When I make cuts, my anxiety and aggitatin goes up, plus my depression.

I am lucky enough to have very few physical symptoms.

I am using liquid valium, it was a hassle to get but it makes dosing much more easier.

I can't say I notice increases in symptoms when I get my period, as my periods are so unpredictable, last cycle was ony 17days.

Probs the increased nervousness from the w/d aggrevating my hormonal system.

I've held for many months at a time, but got impatient and ended up cutting.

 

Maybe you need to hold for three weeks if you feel really good.

 

I dose three times a day. It's a bit more h assle but it means a more equal amount of valium i n your system which has got to be good.

 

I make sure not to make my cuts no more than 10% of the dose I am cutting from. Bigger cuts are just too risky.

 

I must admit I am getting worried about how I will be when my dose gets lower.

 

I still have 26 cuts left, that's if I stay on 1.2mg cuts.

Aw bugger it, am gonna cut today. I feel ok to cut. It's been 19days since my last.

This will make my dose 3.24mg.
