[WT...]
Twice in my recovery, I thought morning torture was over, as I would go up to a month only being uncomfortable in the mornings. After so long, the torturous adrenaline, cortisol and terror returns. Just hoping that someone had this, and it finally went away for good. This morning it happened, it is still lingering.. it's so unnerving.

[...]
Ok, my mornings are all different. I can wake up either depressed, angry, in a rage, fearful, terrorized, suicidal, impulsive or combinations of all of these symptoms. My worse mornings are when I get the huge cortisol/adrenaline surges--that's when I wake up as the Hulk!!! But for me it usually happens on the first few days of my period. So, imagine withdrawal plus hormones and you have DISASTER! You guys are lucky that you don't have the monthly cycles. I never had PMS issues prior to withdrawal though Now, it's like I have PMDD (Pre-menstrual Dysphoric Disorder)...Anyway, I'm sure these are not relevant to you I've been battling the flu in the past few days (lucky me) and these mornings have been MEGA TOUGH! I feel as though I have been hit with a bat on my back 100 times, plus with the cortisol rush and usual w/d symptoms I become VERY suicidal. I seriously think dying from the flu would not be such a bad thing, to be honest But my flu is getting a little better--I wish the brain healed so quickly. After I wake up, it gets a tiny bit better after about an hour or two. I am wondering if the morning issues are not only due to cortisol being higher in the morning. But I also saw an imaging study a while ago that showed very low activity in the frontal lobes while in deep sleep...So, I wonder if part of the morning symptoms are due to a drastic increase in activity in the frontal lobes causing lots of misfiring. [An...]
Before I heard of benzo w/d or tolerance and I tried to explain the morning surges to my doc she just looked at me like she had never heard of it before. I wondered what on earth was wrong with me as I had never experienced it before and had a hard time explaining it to everyone. Is this a common withdrawal symptom? Does it ever go away or get better? [...]
Oh God, doctors are SO ignorant! Yes, the surges are extremely common in withdrawal. What's up with these doctors? I used to be the kind of person who jumped from bed as soon as I woke up, happy with a smile on my face, ready to start the day. On psych meds, I would wake up with these surges and either with a feeling of terror or rage, which would last quite a few hours. I would tell my doctors about these and they said it was probably nightmares...but even when I remembered my nightmares they were sometimes mild...and I've had nightmares all my life and never had those morning issues. It wasn't until the morning rage turned me into the Hulk that I figured out that psych meds were doing this to me...and my doctors could not put two and two together... [An...]
These morning cortisol surges are awful. Am feeling better otherwise. But I too would like to hear from someone who had them and fully recovered that they absolutely do go in time.

[WT...]
The fear (bad fear) lasts long into the day again like it did in earlier months. I just don't understand how this is healing -- makes NO sense whatsoever..
[An...]
I get this fear too. I just feel scared in the mornings....why? I also wonder why at 9 or 10 pm at night I almost feel normal. Does anyone else get this? I want to just stay up, because I know in the morning it's adrenaline and fear.
