[ma...]
Hi BBs, I attempted a direct taper from knon, it got really rough, and switched to valium which did help. But for whatever reason, I have never truly stabilized from the crossover. I've had days that were better than others and a few windows, but nothing like before I started tapering. I plan to cut by .5 mg doses every two weeks. But... Is it worth waiting to "stabilize" for say a month at each level? Or is that just postponing the inevitable? is it even possible to stabilize? Isn't it going to be a rough ride after that last .5 mg anyway? When I have bad days, like yesterday for example, I am inclined to never take this junk again - it really pisses me off. The idea of hanging out on 2 mgs of valium for a month just seems like doing more damage to my brain and I can't stand the thought of that anymore. Seems like tapering 2 mg over 2 months is certainly safe - if not comfortable. Any help and opinions welcome... M
[...]
I understand not wanting to take another benzo. I've been struggling to stabilize on my current dose for about 7 weeks. I don't know anymore if taking my regular doses is doing more harm than good. I don't feel any different in terms of symptoms after taking a dose. Since it seems that slow and steady wins the race, holding until stable seems to be the way to go. There's no way of truly knowing if it is going to make things more tolerable once you jump but it does make sense to allow your system to get used to each dose as much as possible between cuts. M Hi, I also crossed quickly and starting cutting on valium soon after....at 0.5mgs/week. I never was symptom free but I decided I wanted off. I was a short time user. Anyway, at about 3 months benzo free I started noticing significant improvement in my symptoms. I was on Ativan at first. At 2mg valium you may want to get a script for the liquid Valium....you can use it with half tablets of the 1mg tabs to make up fractions. I dosed twice a day and used benedryl on bad days. God bless.
[ma...]
Yes, it does I suppose pay to wait, that is the consensus. I see you are coming off 5 mg klon, wow that is huge and congrats get as far as you have! I've got another week here and will see how it goes. Yesterday felt like my brain was going to fly out of my head, today I feel focused and much better with only 5 hours of sleep. Weird. There is no rhyme or reason to the sfx. Thanks, M
[...]
There is no rhyme or reason. Acceptance is key. I struggle with the acceptance thing but do understand that it would probably help somewhat if I can learn to get to a place of acceptance. The mind can be a powerful thing, in a good way as well as a bad way. Hope you stabilize soon. Take care.
[Fl...]
Hello maintain. Looks like you've cut pretty fast. Maybe you could get liquid and use these last two milligrams to cut more slowly and stabilize, somewhat. If tapering is this bad, you might have a difficult time in the very beginnig of post taper. What's the rush? You've been on a benzo for almost 10 years, from what I can tell. A few more months won't matter. M also at 2 mg and have just started a micro taper with tablets and liquid. Went from 2 mg yesterday to 1.99 today and plan 1,98 tomorrow. I might speed up or not. At this rate it will take until September. I'm more interested in quality of life right now than in getting off soon. I have seen too many people rush through a taper, only to be blindsided after finishing. Good luck! [ma...]
Thanks Fliprain, I'm going with your advice actually. I see you too have had the pleasure of vertigo and nystagmus. I had an ENG test done and qualify as having a "Non-locating Vestibular Disorder" which basically means my cerebellum and CNS are so effed up my system of balance is toast (or was.) I have been making progress on that front however, but had 3 months of nausea and dizziness from Oct-Jan. It comes and goes now but wow, I've never been so ill in my life. Weeks of not being able to function at all. You've got quite a journey under your belt and I wish you the very best going forward... M
[Fl...]
Thanks Maintain, there is an excellent thread going called "Liquid Valium". I believe it is under tapering plans. Some very excellent experience and advise there! I had vestibular neuritis - I think it was exclusionary because they didn't know what else to call it. I actually had to go to a special physical therapist to learn to walk again. Now I only run into walls and doors a few times a week and haven't fallen in months! Yay! Good luck. I'll follow your progress. We can be twins in our taper. Flip
