Getting Worse.

Recommended Posts

I feel like I'm getting worse and worse, like there is no healing occurring whatsoever.  I know have throbbing pain on both sides of my temples and can't really sleep at all, shaking, chills, Extreme Fatigue, Can barely open my eyes, not sure if entering a muscle relaxer in the mix and gabapentin caused this? or if this is just the natural course of w/d? I'm currently not on anything and I'm going to see if this helps at all, I'm so far from healing that I feel buried alive in a coffin.

You're at a very trying point. I think many have posted that at the 2-3 month mark benzo free, they felt the worst. Just when you need some indication that things WILL get better. It was at that point that I decided to consider the possibility that maybe I was one of those people who would have an 18 month withdrawal period. I had to think of the process as a long one. Having hope that the next day might be better actually isn't hope, it's an expectation and comes with easy disappointment.

Hang in there, a day at a time.

Thanks Yram, this is very hard for me because I thought I was getting better, some symptoms were slightly less and now I have the same old symptoms everyday like clockwork, Wake up in the am like death, just want to sleep, then slowly try and function and go out and do things and I'm let down daily.

I'm not sure what caused it but I can tell you I've read some horror stories about taking Gabapentin (Neurontin) in withdrawal. Also, muscle relaxers are usually CNS depressants!

On the other hand, I have also experienced those same symptoms in withdrawal and didnt take anything to cause it.

I hope you get over this rough part soon, man.

Hi there,

I went through the same thing.  It started closer to 3-4 months off for me.  I thought many times that things may never improve, or that it would just continue to get worse than my taper.  But eventually it DID lift.  I still have some bad days now, but not how I was at that 3-4 month mark.  Hang on tight.  Your body is working overtime to heal and unfortunately the healing process can be uncomfortable mentally and physically.  I have a lot of energy now and keep up with my daughter and husband easily.  I out-do them now!  Things are going to improve for you, it just doesn't feel like it when you're at the stage you're in.  I went through it and can HONESTLY say it does get better.

All my best,

Schatje

It seems a lot of people Heal at the 6 month mark, what concerns me is that I had a previous Cold Turkey and got to about 5 months off and couldn't take it anymore.  When I was at 5 months I didn't have a let up of symptoms at all, it was the same everyday like I have now.  Does the Adrenaline Cortisol thing take a while to calm down?? I'm so sick of waking up shaking with my heart racing every damn morning!

Trying to hold on and say only 3 1/2 months more and hopefully I can heal, but it is really really hard.

I'm in a similar position.  Feel like I'm getting worse, but apparently this happens to a lot of people in w/d.  I just don't understand it at all.

You are not alone!  I started to feel worse around the 3-4 month mark and am worse than ever at just over 6 months off.  I know that may not be the most comforting thought but it does happen.  I also want to give up on a daily basis and don't yet see any light at the end of the tunnel.  However, we have to believe it is there.  So many others have gone on to heal and live fully functional lives.  We will get there too!  It may just take a little longer than we would like, and we have no way of knowing just how long that will be until we get there.  It sure is a long and bumpy ride.  Hang in there!

Hope

Does this sh*t ever end? I mean, I was losing some symptoms and now they seem to be back: agitation+visual DR.  I just do not see how this can get better...

The whole left side of my head is tingling and throbbing and my eyelid is twitching. Driving me crazy!

Same here, exactly like that.

bmw - imo you need to rid yourself of all chemicals. i have had flares from medicines as innocent as allergy pills and vitamins. this process is absolute hell, and you are very very early. some people do not feel feel for well over a year - closer to two. i found that was my case last time. if i were you, i would just accept the symptoms u are having, not look for another pill to treat them - because that could prolong your healing. there is no other way to put it - benzo withdrawal is hell on earth. you must prepare to not feel well for a long period of time but know that it will end, and you will heal - as long as you do not throw anything else onto the fire like other narcodics. i know for a fact that a muscle relaxer would send me through the roof.

You may feel you are getting worse but actually the longer this goes on the closer you are to healing.  I am 10 months off and finally starting to return to normal.  I do have the morning cortisol rushes but because I know my day will probably be fine, I don't let them get me down any more as I guess they will go in time.

Try and accept the symptoms as a nuisance, know they will go and get on with your life.  Otherwise you are not only going to pull yourself down, you will bring everyone else around you down too.

If somebody could just answer, Is head pressure worse while talking?? This is my worst symptom and it's just on the left side of my head but now on the right as well, It's there all the time but 100 times worse when I start talking all day. Is this Normal? Did a lot of you have difficulty talking because the head pressure was so much worse????  If someone could let me know if that's normal or can relate to this constricting horrible feeling???

I can't comment on the head pressure, but I wanted to let you know, even if it feels like you're progressing father into negative symptoms, you are getting better.

The first few weeks off weren't that bad for me. I finally felt benzo free after three years, but the coming months that followed were trying.

Most of my symptoms came back. They stayed at a safe medium; none of them increased in severity. The third or fourth month, windows were getting longer and felt more solid, but now, at five months off, I'm snapped back into a wave that I wish I could get out of it.

Withdrawal can be very tricky on the mind. It makes you believe you'll never get better, that what you're feeling has to be how you'll feel forever. The key thing is, remember your windows. Place them square in your mind, because that's how you'll be feeling when you're off.

I hope things start to improve for you, bmwzw.
