[ev...]
It is now well over 18 months since I took any drug. My taper from Valium ended on Aug 13th 2010. Yet I am still having mysterious aches and pains throughout my body some days. This week has been bad. I had a virus which involved coughing which the doctor said should have gone away after a couple of weeks. In my case it lasted nearly two months. Given that there were symptoms with it I was not sure if I was still suffering from the effects of all the benzodiazepines and other psychiatric drugs I took for two and a half years. Now it seems I am. Are other people still enduring symptoms this far out? Thanks in anticipation. Ivan

[ro...]
Hey Ivan, Well you are not alone,I am 22 months out and still feel misrable most days.I developed what I thought was a bad cold in mid Oct well now March still have a soar throat, headaches, ear pain, enlarged tonsil, on top of all the other symptoms compliments of Benzo usage for a few months. It seems any illness takes 10 times longer to heal from while in withdrawal- go figure! Any way you have company, hope you start feelin better soon, Rondo
[ev...]
Thanks for your replies. I made the mistake a couple of days ago of allowing myself to drink a bottle of Japanese beer. It tasted very nice. However, having googled alcohol and benzodiazepines I suspect that this could be the cause of the dire feelings I have today. Even after such a long time free of Valium it seems that therre is every potential for any alcohol to inflict misery on me. So I won't e doing that again and I hope this awful feeling I am experiencing today will pass. The message I am getting from both of you is that it takes a long time to get fully better and that one should take care. Thanks again for your promt replies. And I wish you the best of luck. Ivan.
