Does anyone get depressed during their taper

I feel sad quite often and I've been crying quite a bit as well.

It's pretty common to experience sadness and depression as well as all kinds of other emotions during your taper.

If you feel very depressed please talk to someone and get help.

Just spent 7 weeks in hospital however was never ever depressed before i was started on this stuff.  Im angry and sad.  I will get through without ever a medication.  I have just come down from 45mg of valium in 18 days to 2mg so I think im coping pretty well.

Depression seems to be quite common during tapering.  I found I was just emotionally and physically exhausted.  I remember saying to my husband so many times, "I'm done!".  And then I'd slip into a sort of sadness.  I felt hopeless...only, it never lasted long.  I could pull myself from it.

Many do battle depression during this process, so hang in there.  It will pass eventually.  Withdrawal from benzos can bring out many emotions that have been suppressed while being on them.

All the best and take care,

Schatje

I didn't have depression before benzos either.

Most of the withdrawal symptoms I'm experiencing I did not have before benzos.

That's the nature of the beast.

I genuinely have confidence that we are capable of complete recovery.  It will take work, persistance as well as enduring some real hardship but our mind and body is a shockingly capable healer if we give it a chance.  Hang in there.  As far as Depression, I too feel miserable at times while tapering.  To be honest there aren't huge moments when I would describe my feeling as anything but difficult.  Short windows of clarity offer huge hope.  Take Care

Yes Budgie

Only so much our poor bodies can cope with Im sure but common sense kicks in and say our bodies are amazing machines and they can repair themselves.  Lets just focus on that otherwise its to much to bare.  By the way hard to be positive when your are tapering with all the symptoms who wouldnt be sad.

All these symptoms better disappear eventually.  There's only so much one can handle and only so long one can cope.

I suffered depression all of a sudden in November, right around the time tolerance withdrawal symptoms started. I am still trying to climb out of this dark hole. I feel like the days are passing and I can't enjoy my babies like I should:( I just want to feel happy again.  I really feel like this is the benzos making me feel this way........I hope that it is then when I am off hopefully I can heal and the sun will shine again.  LDl just know you are not alone in this....it helps me a bit.
