[ma...]
I was hanging out on my favorite forum, where my friend says these pills cause cancer! I only listened to her bc she watches the view, and the news. And I don't watch alot of tv. This can't be true. I am going to google this. [...]
A new study out found a higher incidence and death in people who use hypnotics (benzos and nonbenzodiazepines): http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/759336?sssdmh=dm1.762736&src=nldne
[Ga...]
I think the recent research findings provide another reason to get off these pills. It should motivate people to stop, following discontinuation guidelines like those supported by Ashton. Unfortunately, people may just decide they don't want to take them anymore and stop cold turkey and also doctors may take people off them without providing a realistic withdrawal plan or adequate support. This could result in people getting more sick than they need to in order to get off these drugs.
[jo...]
I know it's easy to worry about benzos causing cancer, but when that horrible feeling comes try to remind yourself that alot of things cause cancer, and by tapering, we are doing the best we can. Guest [wi...]
I'm prone to hypochondriac stuff and everything I read scares the hell out of me. Honestly, and this goes for our bodies even without benzoes, many many many things can cause cancer. Many random things can happen to us. Many things are bad for us. Do we live in fear and isolate ourselves or do we take steps to live better? Think of benzos like sugar. People who eat too much sweets or unhealthy foods end up obese (or can) over a period of time. That has a high likely hood of causing diabetes. Now you can just ignore it, and continue or get so scared that every symptom may be diabetes. OOOORRR you take steps to exercise, eat healthy and change your life style. If you're older and never ever ate right or exercised, like myself, this is a very daunting task, but DOABLE. The same with benzos. Do we ignore what may or may not happen, do we get lost in the panic or do we do what we can to get off of it and better our lives? Up to you, and I think you made that decision by being here
