Parastesia from xanax WD - How long / severe

Recently tapered from xanax from 2mg a day to 0 over a three week period

(about 30 days ago). I have extreme numbing and tingling pretty much from head to toe. Starts in the morning and progressively gets worse. Neuro said he thinks it general anxiety and wants me to go back on xanax. Anxiety doesn't make sense as I don't seem to be overly worried about anything other than the parastesia and it's the same every day. If it is WD, anyone know how long it may last or what I might try to help it? Having a really hard time even functioning.

Thx

Wow, that was a really fast taper. I know what you are going through and went through hell before finding out that I had tapered too fast. It wasn't days after I quit - although I had w/d symptoms right away. It was weeks and then months. I couldn't believe after being off for four months I would feel as horrible as I did. No doc believed me and said there was nothing wrong (although my own doc listened to me, and was sympathetic, she could find nothing wrong). I finally read Worse Than Heroin and Benzo-Wise. These books saved my life - explained everything - that is how I found benzobuddies and ashton method. After reading I reinstated (I was truly suicidal with about 25 horrible horrible symptoms) and found hope because I finally had an answer. Within an hour of reinstating, my horrible symptoms diminished within an hour. I would never tell anyone to reinstate - but I had to.....it was the last hope I had - but then I studied on how to properly withdraw and have been able to minimize my symptoms. I will take another 6 months to withdraw as I am going extremely slow, but most days now, my worst symptoms are tinnitus, hyperacusis and some dizziness - but those are also diminishing on a regular basis. I have 3 or 4 consecutive days now without symptoms other than tinnitus.  I know my receptors are healing - I can tell. I had awful tingling so I know what you are feeling. My sleep was awful back then too, but has returned to normal.  Most everything I have read says it takes 12-18 months for our receptors to heal from these drugs, but we are all different and some of us heal sooner than others. Hope that is helpful.

Thanks Amb.

Have appointment for a nerve conduction test later today. As it stands I may need to at least go back on and then stary a really slow taper. Thoughts from anyone else would be appreciated. Constant symptons like these are dragging me down and making me crazy
