Waves

Anyone have waves, where you thought you was literally going to die?

PS- I'm not one to freak out, really. And anyone who knows me, knows this.. I just go with the flow. I knew it was going to be bad at times.

What really gets to me is this- My Oxygen will be 99. Yet Hear rate at 56 - 70, this comes with the adrenalin. BP is good, though 120/70 finally! Hasn't been that in a few years. The Tachycardia has turned into low Heart rate at times. It feels like I'm not breathing, but a 02 level at 99, how could you not be, lol.

Dear Billy,

LOL!  Sometimes I catch myself with ridiculous "fear thoughts" of the "What If's. . ."!!!

My benzo brain comes up with humdingers for sure!  :) Hugs, KL

KL,

I don't want to be negative, but this has been going on for months. It has been every morning since July. Mornings must be the worse time for many of us. I also notice when it is gloomy out; I feel worse, and why that is- I do not know.

Now, when the sun is out, the wave is less. The d/r somewhat goes, as I can connect to things better.

Yes, the "What If's" got me into this in the first place. These need to be resolved.

56-70 is not a bad heart rate.  Technically, anything below 60 is considered low for one who is not a conditioned athlete, but when I have had rates in the 50s, the doctors do not seem concerened, especially if that is happenign when you are sittiling calmly and not engaged in activity.

At times I have trouble catching my breath.  I have come to realize that this may be a panic or muscle tightness reaction.  It has nothing to do with not having enough oxygen in my blood.  Once you come to accpet that, which you do seem to, you can focus on your breathing and that may bring some relief.

Thanks,

The mornings is when it is worse. It literally feels crushing. I think, "Surely not a seizure!" Nah, since when does a seizure start in the stomach? I mean that's where it feels like the pressure is, which somehow seems to be linked to my chest. I then feel as though I cannot breath. Yes, there is a muscle tightness to it.

Sounds like a wave to me Billy, I've definitely thought that I was dying or already dead at times....very scary.  :( I never check my breathing or my heart rate, it's probably good for me not to check those things because it would feed into my crazy thoughts even more. I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks, Sassy. I don't think it really is a good idea to checks vitals in w/d.

Your vitals sound pretty good to me! 56-70, there are people who would love to have a heart rate that low.

Mornings are worst for almost everyone.  Benzos screw up your HPA axis and your cortisol levels.  Mornings are when we have a natural increase in cortisol, that's the natural normal cortisol cycle, and benzo withdrawal just takes that and makes it a zillion times worse.

Actually I'm sorry to have to tell you that everything you describe sounds really normal for benzo withdrawal and not likely to be fatal or even dangerous.  Just totally, totally sucky, for a while.  But it will all go away eventually.

Of course if you are seriously concerned, you should get checked out medically.  Likely they will find nothing wrong.  I don't think you'll find many doctors who will be worried about that heart rate.

prhiannon,

Thanks. I think it's the body trying to right itself. It has to be. What you described about cortisol sounds correct to me.

Also, the oxygen at 98 - 99, yet can't breath.. it doesn't add up. Has to be withdrawal. Hyperventilation, I would think.

The adrenalin is what gets to one, when in fight or flight  :o that's bad. I literally lay in fear for a couple of hours. The more I type about it, the more it sounds like w/d to me.

Thanks, Billy.
