[...]
Lately, on occasion, I've been able to do some mental gymnastics to change my thinking/feeling and sometimes, just sometimes, I am able to stop the cycle of fear or anxiety or anger from escalating and having me curled up in a ball screaming...A brain that is just a tiny bit more responsive to rational thinking, is a sign of healing, I hope... Anyone find the same thing as they recover? I just started noticing this since last week...and it's just a minor improvement, but I think it's a step in the right direction, correct? I have to treat my brain like a child with a tantrum or a scared puppy...like for example, I am afraid of people, but have let a few people into my house lately...I feel nervous before they come and for the first 10-15 minutes, but then I'm able to talk myself out of it...A few weeks ago people TERRORIZED ME...now I feel afraid and anxious, but not terror. Just today I started looking out the window and then I saw my neighbor and freaked out but then I was able to talk myself down and eventually calmed myself. [WT...]
I believe I know what you mean, mmir. I go driving a lot (a whole lot) and learning new roads seems to help with some of the fear. Anytime we learn, we grow some new neural pathways, and that can only help us.
