Is Benzo Belly Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

Just wondering if it is pretty much identical in symptoms. I've had really bad distention and other IBS symptoms. In the interest of information sharing, can someone explain to me their worst stymptoms with benzo belly and how long it's been with them?

Bloated feeling is common...will go away someday...but gastro problems are serious symptom....diareaha and constipation and benzo belly are all part of thsi horrible scenario.

I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 15 or 16 years old.  Now at 7 months off of Benzos, I'm seeing a flare-up of IBS-like symptoms.  I'm not sure if is the IBS or "benzo belly".  I have bloating, burping often, normal bm's - however I have a lot of lower gas pain with it, and lots of strange gurgles and pops going on.  Our stomach is our second brain (apparently), so it's common to have a lot of problems there during w/d as our bodies heal.  I find my GI issues wax and wane, so they aren't always horrible.  And they don't keep me from doing things.

I have bloating, burping, dry mouth, and it feels like this pressure in my stomach. It will go away eventually. No worries.

 

BTW- It gets worse with morning adrenalin.

 

Hang in there and just accept it. That is what I do, as painful as it is. I know it's withdrawal.

My hubby has the benzo belly:  distention, pressure against diaphragm from distention hard to do deep breathing, cramping/pain, lots of wind, very sensitive to foods.  He never had any GI problems prior.  Pattylu
