chemicals that effect the cns

just wanted to put this out just in case there is someone as dumb as i am.  I am 61/2 months benzo free. I was feeling 30- 40% better until yesterday. Although I am still very sick i try to make myself do things that need to be done.  I decided to take the motor off my fishing boat and paint it and repair some fiberglass. I was feeling pretty good and started this project with the best intentions. I ground down a place that was leaking and mixed up some fiberglass resin and patched the hole. An hour afterwards I was hit with some of the worst w/d s/x I've had since the beginning of this horror story. I know varnish has cyanide in it but never thought about fiberglass fumes effecting me the way they did. Although today is a little better I almost wound up in the er because of this. Just a word of warning to anyone using any type of chemical while the cns is healing. Breathing toxic vapors no matter how small an amount can hurt big time.  back under the wheels. rstud

Thank you for this information, rstud.  Sorry that you had to experience that to get it though!  I've noticed that I can't use some of my cleaning supplies around the house without having a bad reaction to the fumes and I'm not even done tapering yet.  Live and learn, huh?

hi flutter, yeah just another delivery system for poisons. I should have known better but was out in open air. Guess it really don't matter. Need to always wear a mask. Some paints have lead in them and no telling what other products we don't know about that effect our cns. Praying for your speedy recovery. rstud

i have this same problem with certain cleaning suplies. One time i opened the back of my toliot to clean it and put in a new freshner & when i went to stir the water where the old blue freshner was peviously it must have released toxins cause i was sent into imediate severe acute withdrawal for about 6-12 hours after that. I am sensative to all kinds of cleaning products. I even found my self sensative to a few all natural cleaning products also. alot of trial and error over these last 21 months. sh*t, some of the stuff we have to go through to get to the other side is just unreal.  -Jacob

Hi,  I am on this site for my hubby, although I was put on Valium in the 80's.  To this date my system is o hypersensitive to anything with chemicals.  I had o go "green" long before green came around!!  Now with my hubby, I,m seeing the same and he,s been off benzo drug over one year.  Pattylu

fg, I have a 16' ol' timer skiff and a 41' formosa ketch. The ol' timer is a 1971 and I put mahogany hand rails around the gunwhales and a bench seat in the back. I have been restoring the 41' sailboat for four years. New engine ,wiring,etc. I've had to put it on hold since being poisoned though. Hope to finish it soon. rstud

Well, this is hard for me to say because before Benzo's, I was sensitive to some chemical stuff. I know while on them, I was as well. I am now, too. I have always been sensitive to bleach and comet. I can't find anything else. I know bleach makes me feel light headed, but it always has.

I was just reading about chemical sensitivities caused by chronic fluorosis. It seems the cns is overly sensitive and completely whacked out in w/d. Just didn't realize how bad it was. It may also be why nothing seems to help much except fluoride based compounds. Still learning about this w/d. rstud
