Has anyone quit Zyprexa?

Has anyone been able to get off the medication Zyprexa after being on for a year or more and stayed off of it without a replacement med?  I've been trying to quit for years and always have the same problem..I lose the ability to fall asleep completely once I get to zero.  Sometimes it takes a week to set in but the total insomnia always takes over.

Just curious if anyone's been able to quit because I want to give it another shot and I'm tapering it right now.  I'm down to 20mg from 30mg.  Once the insomnia continues to improve I'll keep on tapering.

Hi--

The forum Surviving Antidepressants has a section on tapering Zyprexa and there are probably people there who have done it.  I don't have any personal experience with it although I do have experience with other ADs.

I'd say just on general principle of what seems to work, do what you're doing, hold your taper until symptoms settle down then continue it.  Also, most people find they need to slow down the speed of their tapers when they get to lower numbers.  Maybe if you go really really slowly at the end this time you won't have as much trouble with the insomnia...?  worth a try perhaps.

I am having the exact same issue.  One person named Andy on SA claims to have come off.  I simply can't at this point.  I'm trying tapers but doubt it will do anything.
