I am benzo free !

I was a member of another forum over a year ago I started a journey that everyone here is on. I started taking Ativan over 5 years ago for anxiety and to help me sleep so I would take them as needed in the day and as needed at nighttime sleep, this was prescribed by my doctor. I was up to 2 mg each day as needed and then when I had to take them everyday I knew I had a problem so I found a website and learned how to taper and with the help of a wonderful lady from NZ or OZ I forgot I learned about water tapering and this I did for a year ! I went slowly and stopped for weeks at a time to allow my brain to heal as I lowered the dose. I had a bumpy ride with terrible rapid heart beats in the beginning but it smoothed out and I was ok just tapering down and off. I am free from benzos for 4 months and I am feeling good. I will not declare success until a year out if I am feeling this good or better then. I want to offer hope for those doing the taper because I know how dark the days are and how scary it is. I want to offer hope. I did it.
