10 weeks off, sleeping all the time, normal?

Hi

I am 10 weeks off of a 11 month long taper.

One of the only symptoms that I have not experienced while withdrawing is insomnia. I have been very fortunate that I could always sleep, but when hitting 9 weeks off, I started sleeping more, not many consecutive hours, but I get tired/fatigued very fast and I drift off.

I sleep around 10-11 hours a day. maybe 5 hours at night, and at least 3 naps at 1-2 hours each a day.

Did anyone else experience this post taper?

Thanks

I too did not have insomnia after I had been off for a short period of time -- I had insomnia during tapering.  I can't say that I slept a huge amount, but at times I would sleep more than I had in the past.  I have not seen too many people complaint that they are sleeping too much, but one cannot rule this out as a withdrawal symptom.

At the same time, one of the problems with benzo withdrawal is that it causes so many symptoms that eventually it is hard not to assume everything is benzo withdrawal.  Depending upon how serious this is, it might be worth mentioning it to your doctor to make sure it is nothing else.  I belive that certain vitamin or iron deficiency can caused fatigue

Thanks Pfeff

I better call my doctor to have some blod work done. Last time I did so (around 5 months back, I had no deficiencies)

I am not that worried, as I always slept many times during the day while tapring, when the withdrawals got too strong. When I got better, I slept less. I have been quite symptomatic after jumping, so maybe it is just my way of reacting to intense withdrawal.

Just strange that I sleep a lot in intense withdrawal, while most in here react by getting insomnia...Hmmm.

I think the brain really need to sleep through this, from where I sit, sleep is always good. If your blood work is good, enjoy and brag about it.

I do think that total exhaustion makes me so sleepy. My preferable spot right now is a dark room, with no high pitch noises, so I guess that you are right that my brain needs lots of rest. I would not brag though, as it is not blissful sleep, but it is better than being awake at the moment.

It will all pass I am told :)
