Going to see neurologist help

I am going to see my neurologist wednesday. He is the one who put me on xanax. Im in severe I/W and im feeling very ruff 2 hours sleep last night and bad nausea most of the night and bad fatuige and nausea until 930 this am. Im in a bad situation have already tried to get my GP to cross to valium I wrote a post about this yesterday. That wont work. Saw a crazy psycitrist yesterday he wanted to take me of 2 mg xanax in 3 weeks. So yhat didnt work. So now im down to my neuro and im concerned i dont think he would just take me off, But he might refir me to another crazy shrink. He has always been good to me for past 15 years. Im dbating taking ashton manual in. I know he doesnt like valium. But he might consider k. Im sure ive tried it before and i dont think it worked for me. Since im in I/W im starting to wonder once again if i can handle titraiting the xanax. Im running out of options the only other option i have is a doctor who doesw ashton but is 5 1/2 hours from me and im not sure i can handle the valium really. I need sound advice. Has anyone titratrated while in I/W. Please send your thoughts

Intend i was going to try and find you and Charlie on our xanax thread today. I have been so nauseated today anxiety stomach and burning hands. You know how up and down i am on what to do. Today i started thinking why go to another drug im sick now and will be sick then im guessing Because i dont know if valium or any other drug will make a difference. and im a little concerned i might get refered to a psyciatrist if my neuro doesnt want to deal with me. So im thinking just go for yearly appointment and come home start titrating the next day. I know i can get help from doc 5 or so hrs away. Do i need to fear seizures? I just cant see this getting any easier. Im just malling this around. How are your sx today?

My sx started out very difficult.  I took my dose @1030, which is earlier than I wanted to, but had to do so.  I think I am in real hardest part of the K w/d.  Hoping that the sx will lessen with time as I acclimate back to X.  Very difficult situation and has taught me not to just "change up" the drugs like this as I DO NOT travel well between these shorter acting benzos.  Probably could never make it on valium myself.  Too much intense w/d from shorter acting benzo crosses let alone super long acting one.

 

I think that for now you should just go see your neurologist and get your Rx.  Tell him that you are still having some anxiety which you are.  Try to get what you need for now and be done with that part of it.  If you go on about wanting off, he may send you to some other doctor and then you will be up against some unknown quantities here.

 

And remember what I said about your GP yesterday.  She really has no legal right here to be involved with your neurologist without your permission.  Official permission usually requires a signed "Release of Information."  You may have already signed that awhile back.  But if you have requested her to not call your neurologist and she does, that is a violation of your rights here without doubt.  Hopefully, you wont have to contend with that.  If he says he has spoken with her, I would just reiterate that whatever he gave you this X for before (anxiety, muscle spasms) you think you still need it cause you do.  Then I would take that Rx and get it filled and go from there. 

 

I want to see about any responses to your original question about titrating during w/d sx also.  But that is my advice for now.  Just waiting to see what others think about that.  It is a very good question.

Well Intend i did call her back and left a message not to talk with neuro, and i have not signed anything so im ok My neuro orderd my xanax i called pharmacy today i had them fax doc wednesday. So im going to see him next wek and will just act normal yearly appointment. I read Fishingguys story today and wow im convince i just need to try and get off xanax dont add anything. I did break up 4 doses and will try 8 doses to see how this works I took .25 at 230pm it is almost 4 and the anxiety is coming to my stomach hands are starting to hurt. I will take .25 in a half hour i will try this a few days and see if helps. We will have to talk about titration sometime i was reading about the scale Kian is looking at  Im going to start next thursday with full dose titraited for a week then i need to talk with you i know the basic stuff to start Just dont know how many days to go down each ml and when to hold getting started. My goodness Jackie make up your mind what you are doing!

Then that problem is solved for now. I also read fishing guys story. It was very interesting and he has had many challenges to deal with. I don't remember if he discussed crossing over to Valium or not or if it was adding other meds that you are referring to. But his story was very long, complex and he's had his share of health concerns to handle.

 

I remember Nicollete (Moderator) saying that she preferred to get off the med she was used to and not switch. I had actually asked her about that and that was her answer. It made a lot of sense to me as she said she at least knew what to expect.

 

So I will talk with you about the titration this next week. It's not like I'm an expert on this. I did buy a lot of equipment, but now I feel I'm a ways away from that for myself. Have to get my brain situated here. This am was rough as I said. This cross back to X feels like one of the hardest things I've ever done cause it's hit me in my cognitive function big time. Anyway, we'll talk about best way to go about it. Someone who is really expert on this is prhiannon. She doing a multimed titration now (or she was) and she works in a lab and knows a ton of stuff.

 

Anyway let's see if there are any more responses to this thread. There are lots of other people who also know about titration too. Right now you are posted in Substitution Taper Plans. I think you should post in Titration Taper Plans. That's more the subject here and I think you'll get lots of ideas.
