[de...]
Hi i have been on lorazepam(ativan) for thirty years.3 x 1mg up to 4 x1mg per day.I am now trying to come off them and am taking 2 x 1mg and 1 x 0.5mg daily.I am having terrible symptoms dont know if its me or the lorazepam. Its good to know there are others and there is support.I could tell so much.It is taking all my strength to write this.I tried several years ago to set up a support group here in coventry to no avail. There are no support groups in coventry which i find unbeleivable there must be several people in this area like me.Thanks for listening. [Sc...]
Hello Delboy, and welcome to Benzo Buddies! Yes, there are many of us here in the same or similar boat as you, and it's great that there are forums such as this to offer support when needed. Congrats on beginning your taper. What symptoms are you experiencing since lowering your dose? Do you have a "taper plan"? Many people find if they can make 10% reductions (of the original dose), it helps keeps the side effects a bit lighter. It doesn't mean you'll steer clear of them, but they may not be as intense. All the best to you, and please let us know how we can support you as you begin your taper. Take care, Schatje
[Be...]
Welcome to BenzoBuddies, delboy. I tapered off 3mg lorazepam after nearly 20 years use and I applaud your decision to do the same after such a long time. If it hadn't been having an adverse affect on me and was still helping with anxiety, I'd probably still be on it but it was interferring with my thought processes and memory and contributing to depression. All of those got better after I got the drug out of my system. Let us know how we can help.
