7.5 mnths....extreme dizziness/nausea in morning w/ some anxiety

I'm still having a lot of weird w/d symptoms in the morning. I'm extremely dizzy, disoriented and nauseous. I also feel a lot of

d/p, d/r and a bit of anxiety. I try to get out in the morning but nothing helps. My blood pressure is very low in the morning.

I'm still on these meds and my doc is no help in determining what these s/x's or w/d symptoms are.

morning:

Lamictal 50 mg

Clonidine .1 mg

Lyrica 50 mg

Afternoon:

Lyrica 50 mg

Evening:

Lamictal 100 mg

Clonidine .1 mg

Singulair 10 mg

Lisinipril 2.5 mg

If anyone has any suggestion, I would love to know what step to take next.

Thanks,

Lou

I know Clonidine lowers your blood pressure, but I wouldn't make any changes without consulting your physician.  By the way, have you been feeling this way for a while or did it just come on?

Sincerely,

I've had this dizziness for a while but it has just gotten worse recently.

I feel like I could faint and I  have never experienced that before. I thought it might be agoraphobia, but I'm not sure.

I wish I could consult w/ a physician but honestly I don't have a good doc who understands this anymore, so I'm pretty

much on my own.

Thanks fg.

The clonidine was prescribed by an orthopedic/gp who says he knows about benzo w/d. He prescribed after going c/t to help w/ my w/d symptoms, but as I've pealed back the layers and been able to stop taking as many meds, it seems like underlying s/x's of the remaining meds I'm on are becoming more evident......at least that's what my experience has been.

I think I am going to decrease either the lisinopril or the clonidine first........not sure which one yet.

I certainly wish you well.  However, I would consult with your physician since you are off benzos now.  He may be able to tell you what is the best drug to start withdrawing from.

Take care ...

If it's reassurance of ANY kind, I am now just past the 7 month mark and JUST started getting dizzy spells like you describe...and I'm not on any meds of any kind now.  It's to the point where I feel like I have to sit on the floor or else I'll pass out...and even when I sit I still feel like I could go down.  I haven't had any today - I find it comes and goes.  I too still have nausea from the benzo w/d - it's been one of my worst s/x.  I was getting better these past few weeks but now the nausea is back pretty strong this week.  :(

Hang in there.  Our bodies are still healing.  I'm not sure of the other meds you're on, but I have some of the same s/x.

All my best,

Schatje

Thanks Schatje that does help. I keep trying to explain to my doc that I'm still in benzo w/d but he just doesn't get it.

That is the same dizziness and nausea as I have. Does your dizziness get worse when you go outside in open places or you drive?

You are welcome!  I am not a driver (never have been), so I can't answer that.  But it does sometimes get worse when I get home AFTER being out.  And come to think of it, it does usually start while out in public.  But then worsens once home.  Strange.  It's very unsettling.  The nausea is really wearing me down this evening, but it's a s/x that comes and goes.  I have often found myself questioning "is this w/d...is this just me?"...but then the amount of reading I've done and the support I've had from outside sources (doctor, etc), tells me it is 100% w/d.  I think many doctors try to understand, but until they get patient after patient experiencing feelings like these, they probably just can't believe the extent of the damage these meds can do.  All you can do is try to "educate" your doctor without forcing it on him/her.  I gave my GP printouts and she actually really appreciated it.  And I use to go to a counsellor who once specialized in "addictions" and said Benzos could take up to 2 years to recover fully from.  She saw it all the time where she worked.

Hang in there.  It's all unpleasant and very much unwanted, but in time it will pass.

All the best, hugs,

Schatje

I have to drive, it really helps w/ my w/d symptoms but when I get this dizzy and nauseated I have to stay inside and I absolutely hate it. I'm so sick of resting. I've had that same thought..........is this w/d or is it me? I have faint memories of when I never took any medication at all.............not even aspirin and I can only hope that my body can heal from having taken such toxic medication for so long.

I've been on benzos/antidepressants/stimulants/sleep meds for so long..........I feel like it's going to take a while for my brain and body to recover from everything. You are very lucky to have doc's who understand. I may try giving my GP some printouts. Which ones did you give your GP?

Thanks for your post.

It could be benzo withdrawal.  But Clonodine can lower blood pressure too much and that can cause dizzienss.  You need to be very careful with that drug.  It can be a problem in terms of lowering pressure too much.  But it also has to be stopped very carefully and only under the supervision of a doctor who knows that drug -- preferably a blood pressure specialst, and not a psychiatrist.

This is a new sort of dizziness that only recently gotten worse. This feels like a medication reaction and not benzo w/d. I've been in benzo

w/d so long now that this really seems like something different. I was only prescribed clonidine for the w/d symptoms, so I'm thinking that when

the w/d symptoms tend to decrease maybe the s/x's of the clonidine or my other meds may be more apparent.

I guess I will need to contact my GP and let her know what's going on.

Thanks for your post Pfeff.
