Very interesting article on sleep

I agree.  It was very interesting.  I sleep like this so it was quite an eye opener for me.  Still doesn't help with the fact that I have a job.  My body just gets up about 4 or 5 and I start my day that early.  Good thing is on the weekends I am usually able to go back to sleep after this first awakening.  So I live for the weekends!

DG,

I don't know if you read my initial post or not, but I've been purposely keeping myself up later so I can sleep in one stretch like I thought we are supposed to.  I get really sleepy around 10:00 pm and instead of allowing myself to sleep for a few hours like I naturally would, I stay up until after midnight and then I have trouble falling asleep or I just keep waking up.

If it were up to me I'd sleep from 10:00 to 1:00, get up for 2-3 hours, then sleep again from 3:30 to 7:00.  I'm 53 years old, so I don't feel like I need a full eight hours anymore.  Six to 7 hours is probably enough for me.

Yea on the weekends I stay up until i am sleepy which is about 1 am.  So then I sleep until about 7-8 am.  On the weekdays I wake up so darn early that I have to force myself to bed about 10 pm.  I am fighting myself and it backfires most nights.  I agree with you, I am 37 and I don't really need 8 hours either.  If I could just get a couple more on the weeknights I would be good to go.
