[bm...]
So I went to Diamond Headache clinic and they prescribed me Neurontin, and Propranlol. Both are not working and giving me nasty side effects. Is there a chance that it's all w/d related after all that I have this left sided throbbing concentrated head pressure? The only think that takes away the pain and pressure is Klonipin!!! My doc was baffled by that was the only med that took the left side throbbing and tingling away!! Any thoughts??? I just wanted your guys opinion??? I'm 2 months off and was wondering if maybe this is all w/d?? And it might stop on its own? I'm all out of answers... First I thought it was a throbbing heartbeat blood pressure headache but then I started the propranolol and it didn't really help.
[Un...]
There is no medication that I have tried that will make this headache go away. I have tried them all, even a steroid that is suppose to handle cluster headaches. Nothing will tame it. As I mentioned before, only ice helped calm things a bit when it was extreme, but nothing will stop it from hurting. It will go away after time. It may even come back. Mine just did this week at 7 months off. It isn't the same intense pain, but that dull one that just hangs outs on the side of my head. Hang in there. Try magnesium if you haven't. I am not sure it has done the trick, but I started taking it back in August. Maybe it helped over time. Maybe only time helped. No clue. Good luck. Also, in my own experience, some of the headaches meds further anxiety. Ibuprofin in large quantity revs up my anxiety. Also, this may sound strange, TUMS increases anxiety as well. Just a heads up. [ve...]
Good chance the elevated BP is withdrawal at 2 months out. At 2-3 months out, I had elevated bp and my doc wanted to put me on beta blockers. I told him I thought it was an after effect of stopping the valium and he agreed to wait. I started exercising more and watching my diet (along with refraining from alcohol) and the bp went back to normal within a week or less. As for the nerve numbness, throbbing...I can't say for sure since I was not on klon and did not have those symptoms. However, from reading around forum, it seems pretty common to have different burning and tingling nerve sensations in the first year off. Two months off is still in the infancy of recovery. [Ho...]
Hi bmwzw, The symptoms you've described are common symptoms of withdrawal. The fact that klonipin is the only medication that gives you relief suggests that what you're feeling are withdrawal related symptoms. You're still in early days at only 2 months off. I'm glad you've been evaluated by a doctor.
[JO...]
Hi BM, While I am still tapering and have a way to go. I believe your headaches may very well be withdrawal. I have noticed a strange thing as I have gotten down on my Valium. I take my dose at 1100pm and with in ten minutes I get a headache then with in an hour it starts to clear. I hope others weigh in and I hope your symptoms lift soon.
[Kl...]
Dear bmwzw, You have mentioned in past threads that you have had the symptoms you described prior to ever taking a benzo and that it was relieved by taking Klonopin. If you had this prior to taking benzos, why would this be all withdrawal related? Did you ever get a diagnosis from your doctor when you originally started taking Klonopin? [bm...]
The docs really Don't have any answers they haven't been able to help me. The only thing that takes away the tingling/pressure/throbbing is Klonopin, I'm trying to be clean of all meds and haven't worked out at all, maybe I need to get the blood pumping on a regular basis. I know I'm getting better but the concentrated head situation is really annoying and upsetting. Docs said it could be a migraine. Like I said I have been very inactive and maybe I just need to get the blood pumping... The Docs have said it could trigeminal Neuralgia, treated by neurontin but it didn't help me, beta blockers while calming the heart palps didn't really do anything for the Left side head throbbing. However, Klonopin takes the left side head problem away, but lessons my quality of life because I have to keep updosing. So I'm trying to figure out if it's just a waiting game and that it will eventually die off??
Guest [Pf...]
I am baffled that your doctor is baffled. Actually I am not, but a doctor SHOULD NOT be baffled by that. You have recently withdrawn -- two months is quite early in the process. So if you are in withdrawal, only a benzo or benzo equivalent is likely to help some of the withdrawal symptoms. Be careful with Neurontin. Not much is known about the drug. It has become, recently, one of these things that is given for every disorder in the world (90% or something of Rxs for it are off-label). Some people report effects when they stop. Propanalol seems to be a good beta blocker for some minior symptoms like shakiness. But there are certain types of blood pressure problems that are not helped by beta-blockers, and they can make things worse. I had these blood pressure surges, and beta blockers did not work. That doctor put me on an alpha blocker and a beta blocker. Now I am only on the alpha blocker, with no side effects
[bm...]
It seems that if I talk that the pressure and dizziness is increased. But tingling and throbbing is 24/7 and I'm guessing it's connected to w/d because only K will take away the symptoms.
[bm...]
Could this head thing be something that might just heal in time?
[bm...]
When I talk it's also hard to formulate thoughts and say things correctly, in other words I have to think very hard before I talk.

When I talk it's also hard to formulate thoughts and say things correctly, in other words I have to think very hard before I talk. That's happened to me during w/d as well.
